The Band That Changed The World For You

Summer of '93 ... just graduated and this cd rocked my world.

Nothing compares to the pure awesomeness that is 311

Neil Peart - best drummer ever

Off of a different album but I'll take Chad Sexton any day. Solo starts around 1:20

Bill Evans and Miles Davis are the shit.

More latter day stuff like Jane Monheit doing torchy standards is nice too, and Brad Mehldau covering Radiohead is just sick. Listen, obey.

<---see avatar. Didn't change the world for me, but I would say they are my favorite. They tend to be grouped with 80s hairbands, but they are still putting out great stuff while most hairbands are either gone or have resorted to reality shows to cling to attention.

AngryMac i like your style

First CD I ever bought was Slim Shady LP, still have a reserved spot in my heart for that album

Incubus - Make Yourself. I can't believe it's been 10 years since that album came out, it still blows my mind everytime I listen to it. The singles are good, but the deep tracks are just amazing. "Nowhere Fast", "Clean", "Battlestar Scralatchtica", "I Miss You". Genius.

Helllll yea,

Melodeath 100% here, I came into this thread thinking I'd be the odd one out with my taste in music and what do I see here 3rd post in :)

Saw In Flames in Quebec last year, A+++, and my favorite band by far/bar-none since I fell on them by mistake after looking for more music that was similar to Nightwish.

Started listening to In Flames around 2003 and haven't missed a day,

+rep for being a fan :)

I just recently switched my favorite genre of music to "melodic death metal"

It's exactly what it describes and is actually quite badass if you give it a fair enough shot. In fact In Flames is melodic death metal and is from the same town in sweden that pretty much all melodeath bands are from, which isn't a lot.

Gardenian is my new favorite melodeath. They take a bit of getting used to but if you listen a few times you'll probably get into them. Unfortunately they're split up now and all the members are now in big bands such as children of bodom.
