The Big Get Bigger, The Small have no chance?

Moo, I think you are trying to combine affiliate marketing, (online sales) with building technology. 2 different concepts and businesses, at this point the technology crowd looks down there nose at aff. Great keep it that way, to do aff you have to be a sales person!

The first and most important thing that comes to mind regarding this thread - I understand you made it "to look for thoughts and opinions.", but I'm guessing you wouldn't have made it if you yourself weren't uncertain of how to earn a good amount of money on the net.

And I don't care about Google being big and having power - where were they 8 years ago, when Microsoft and Yahoo were already giants, where was Plentyoffish a few years ago, where was Myspace or even a million dollars homepage ?!

It's never really "only the big get bigger", but "smart, cunning and/or hardworking" get bigger and the rest are left behind.

Or, as the saying goes, there are 3 types of people in the world:
Those who make things happen, those who watch things happen and those who wonder what happened.

Hard work is way overrated.
We live in capitalism (at least i think most people in this forum do).

If you want to make your first million you have to work hard. But not even that hard I don't think. Work clever and work hard. If either is missing you are not gonna make it.

Once you have your first million, you would need to be quite stupid to not multiply it relatively easily.

What million are you on?

The first :bigear:
But Im doing quite well, and I wouldn't say i work that hard. It's hard to tell though, when youre doing stuff you really enjoy.

Just give up now. By next year Google will be making a billion profit a quarter. Its going to be impossible for small guys to make 7 figures, might as well work for someone else for $24,000 a year.

Maybe ill become a banker in london. I hard one of them earned 100m in one year.

There is always room for the small guys. Look at walmart, they are fucking huge and have a shitload of people on the forbes list, but there are still other small companies in each city that do well too. Everyone's business plan is different, new niches are created everyday. The internet is a big big place and there are so many ways to make money it is ridiculous. I don't make shit online yet, but I've gone from less than $100 a month in June to making $900 in October. I can only work on my shit at night after working my 60 hour a week job, which I plan on not working at next year. My earnings have increased and I reinvest those earnings, so from 6 months from now I can start paying myself.

I can think of a few examples of sites that have come out of nowhere to vault to internet megastars:

- Myspace (really only about 3 years old)
- JotSpot (2 year old company got bought by Google a couple days ago)
- MillionDollarHomepage (the original pixel property made that kid a fuckin' million + the chance to write about it for a million more)
- mmmzr.com (the new advertising pyramid scheme of the month, like cashcolumns.com and now a dozen other copycats)
- 15kchallenge.com (a marketing guru that nobody had ever heard about becomes fanboy fodder by thousands of get-rich-quick'ers)

The marketers that simply follow what someone else is doing to make money will always be small bit players. But it only takes one good idea and the ability to put in some serious effort to make some serious cash on the web.
