The California Budget Problem

California is obviously in big budget trouble. Here's a small piece of the problem:

Some of you will agree with this comment, quoted from the article:

...people who put their lives on the line every day deserve a secure retirement.

I'll let you read the piece (it's short), and draw your own conclusions.

1.) Article says "almost 9000" people get $100,000/year pension, so it's not every two bit traffic cop. There are people who put in their years of service.

2.) You can't take away what was promised.

3.) $100,000/year isn't exactly alot of money these days.

4.) This is as stupid as the debate regarding teachers getting paid too much. Nothing more than some people trying to score political points.

I would be interested to see life expectancy information for career cops and firemen, including those who die doing their jobs.
