The failure behind the failure

All I am saying is, if you get offended by something as stupid as shipping your illegal cousin back to mexico or because you took a comment the wrong way and you base your voting on that alone, then you shouldn't be allowed to vote honestly. The argument that Romney or Republicans exclude out everyone but white males or only cater to them is just silly.

Ok, I'll wrap this up because I feel like we're going in circles and still missing the point. The point will never be what you think people should or shouldn't vote on, or even if the should be allowed to vote. The fact is they have that vote. If the Republicans want to win it they're going to have to figure out how. Right now there is battle going on with half the Republicans saying: "We've got to be smart and figure out how to win these votes" and the other half saying "Screw them, we've got to go more socially conservative, religious, and back to the base" Can religious and socially conservative pull a majority? Maybe someday, but obviously, not in this current environment so perhaps they should start focusing on the other option.

your rose-tinted butthurt lens.
You still don't get it. It doesn't matter one whit to me who is President. Tomorrow will pretty much be the same as two days ago.

I have nothing to be butthurt about. Hell, even Turbo is talking to me again. Life is looking up.

If you can't get over me not seeing the Canadian model as a viable long term nation-state, just choose to let go instead of responding with snark.
There is not such thing as a viable long-term solution. It's all a delusion. Obama, Canada, it's all just arbitrary abberations and abstractions shared collectively. Like if everyone started talking baby talk. That's how silly and stupid it is.

I'm not convinced statehood is a psychological illusion. The fact that social contracts that ground statehood exist wherever human life exists means it has some pragmatic value. Even necessary value.
More evidence, less assertion.

People want this shit. People think they need this shit.
People wanted to genocide the Jews. So what?

We don't live in Candyland. You don't get whatever you want just because you want it. This ain't the fucking SECRET.

democrats make wasteful social programs, republicans start wars which cost ten times more

as much as I am for Obama, I can see why a lot of Americans are unhappy.

if you give Obama 3-4 terms (hypothetically), he would definitely turn the U.S. into Canada.. and this will simply kill the American dream.

America's heart is republican.. Republicans made America different than the UK, France, Canada and other western countries. That's what brought millions of immigrants to this country. The idea that you can come up with an idea, work like a dawg and become a billionnaire with minimum government interference and hurdles is a republican idea. That's what the American dream is all about folks.

That example has a direct personal effect on the offended person, on the other hand some get offended by the thought of gay couples on the other side of the country having a piece of paper that says they are "married."

Geraldo: President Obama Earns Re-Election Approval From Latino Vote | Fox News Latino

It's not just that Latinos are offended by people being against illegal immigration, as Geraldo points out in that column it has to do with the way they hype up the problem and such. Listen to right wing talk radio at certain times and the impression is that they are afraid of and against Latino culture as a whole and any type of Latino immigration.

Seems you forgot the:

1. Black hawk war
2. Mexican - American War
3. Mexican Revolution
4. Seminole War
5. El Salvador Civil War
6. Haiti
7. WW1
8. WW2
9. Korea
10. Vietnam
11. Somalia ( restore Hope )
12. Bosnia
13. Kosovo

Should I keep fucking going on about wars and Democrats???

I feel the same about people who voted for Republicans based on the gay marriage alone ( notice I said alone, as the only issue/reason to why which is what I also mentioned above ).

We deport a lot of other minorities too, I don't see an upheaval of Asians, Canadians, French, Africans, or others. Its always the Latinos over and over again about how they want to come here, stay, and milk the system illegally.

If your here illegally, you get deported. Its the same for all. Why can't the mexicans just accept it and understand it. They are not being targeted alone in this issue, they are just the ones that make the biggest stink about it.

The reason most are against the culture is, they are the only group making a huge fuss about being here illegally. If I had a huge group of illegal mexicans right next door to me and all they did was protest and talk about how life is horrible here because they are getting deported back next week, I would be all against their culture too. Not just because they are mexican, but because they are illegals and had the nerve to complain about being here.

Yes.

This is the difference. There are plenty of welfare states with more or less big government.

The ideal of America is what attracted millions of the world's smartest people. But as with any game with risk, many ended up driving cabs with their degrees, but is the risk to play in the american lottery. Again, if people wanted a safety net kind of life, they would have went to Europe, but they didn't, they made a conscious choice to hustle in America.

Once that changes, those people with ideas and hustle are going to go elsewhere. Singapore and Hong Kong will absorb some for sure, but they're much smaller and can't offer the same home market.

The real challenge that neither US nor European politicians dare to adress is that a lot of middle class jobs will never come back again and that those who can't or won't adapt to the global technology economy are going to see very real and big drops in living standards.

I bet a lot of small farmers where pissed of because of industrial progress rendering their jobs useless as well. The difference is that this recent tech revolution has happened much faster than other paradigmic shifts.

10 years ago there wasn't even a real Google. 10 years later and millions of people in some way make their living from a search engine.

It's going to get ugly bros. Taxes will go up to pay for those who are made obsolote and can't adapt.

should have qualified with "recently", also what do you think the cost of the "war" in somalia, bosnia, and kosovo is compared to the iraq war?

how many wounded veterans are there from the somalia war?

^^^^ Let's follow Grindstone and get back to work. There's no point crying over spilled milk-- Decision is made and the stock market has started to show signs of discomfort already.

Except for Obamacare( hospitals and drug manufacturers) stocks of almost all other industries have nosedived sharply.

Where's McGruinn?

Your really going to cherry pick 2-3 of the smallest ones in that list for that question?

Let me turn it around for you.. how many were lost during WW1, WW2, Vietnam and Korea?

Its always the Latinos over and over again about how they want to come here, stay, and milk the system illegally.

This is the type of comment I'm referring to. Whether it was your intention or not, this is seen by Latinos (many of whom just want jobs) as a broad brush slap in the face statement directed at all of them.

This is what they hear from much of the right, a right that mostly manages to ignore stories like the one below and ignores points like made in the video :

Georgia’s Harsh Immigration Law Leaves Crops Rotting in Fields

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KzEt5KA9lKA]Illegal Immigration - The Scapegoat (A Liberty Perspective).wmv - YouTube[/ame]

Why can't the mexicans just accept it and understand it.

This applies to most every political issue. People are naturally biased towards their own interests. 20 year olds will never have the same attitude towards government college grants as 75 year olds. And a 45 year old with a child in college will tend to have a different opinion than one who doesn't.

They are not being targeted alone in this issue, they are just the ones that make the biggest stink about it.

There is just more of them that are illegals due to the shared border. If China was along the border with California, it would seem like Asians were making the same stink.

Al Gore's wife Tipper was against W.A.S.P. one of my favorite hair bands. Classic.

Much of that hearing was awesome and hilarious for various reasons.

Except for Obamacare( hospitals and drug manufacturers) stocks of almost all other industries have nosedived sharply.

I would ignore short-term moves in the stock market as indicators of how "good" a presidency will be.

The Dow Jones index for recent presidents:

Bill Clinton's inauguration (Jan 20 1993): 3241.96

Dubya Bush's inauguration (Jan 20 2001): 10587.59

Obama's inauguration (Jan 20 2009): 7949.09

Dow Jones close today (Nov 7th 2012): 12932.73

I make that a 227% increase during Clinton's 8 years, a 25% loss for Dubya and a 62% increase for Obama even after taking account of today's loss (which was in reality prompted by some gloomy words by Mario Draghi of the ECB)

If you are selling stocks, the only thing that looks in genuine danger are the stocks of firms that make military stuff (Boeing etc). The "fiscal cliff" includes a 50% cut in discretionary spending - but the majority of discretionary spending is on military "toys" that the generals like to order but never ever use (actual army personnel costs are protected). If I was Obama I'd let the fiscal cliff stand as it goes a long way to un-winding the military-industrial-complex that Eisenhower (Republican) warned about.

It's not a great win for Obama, he should thank the Ohio 600k car workers saved with the deal Chrisler/FIAT-Marchionne who voted for him.
Now I want to see how he'll be "more flexible" with Vladimir.

Some more about the Romney team's incompetance:

Inside Team Romney’s whale of an IT meltdown | Ars Technica

Their app that was supposed to help them get out the vote crashed and didn't actually work on the day.

Turns out that while Obama had a whole team of volunteer engineers from Craigslist, Google, Microsoft and other Silicon Valley companies, Romney decided to outsource his app, and it wasn't even beta tested before launch...
