the irony of HostGator struggling during the first minutes of 80% OFF..

Hmm I guess I missed out on that.

I never had a problem with HG. Use both HG and Media Temple. MT has killer customer support but I have more niggly little problems using their DV package than I ever have using a cheap ass HG account.

Who are these people that still use shared hosting?

At least a get VPS... I couldn't imagine sharing my resources with other people, that's like sharing a toilet with strangers...

A toilet that prints money.

I seriously love how this board is supposedly full of "marketers" yet we get people crying that they got "scammed" when this is such a common technique - and not illegal.
HG used the walmart of shared hosting. Imagine if Walmart did this... It would ruin their rep, bigtime. -And don't say that they do it to... It's different because they actually have physical products on the shelf for those people... Thousands DID get Zhu-Zhu rats last year on black friday.

There are plenty of reasons to put domains on shared hosting... Such as when you own huge adsense or Blog farms.

Wal-Mart, on average, only has 3-10 TVs, laptops, etc... available on Black Friday and about 500 people fighting for them. I know some retard who tried to get a $300 TV from Wal-Mart this year (he got there like 5 hours early). He didn't get one because they only had 2 in stock. It didn't ruin Wal-Mart's rep and it never will. This is a common Black Friday tactic. Why the fuck do you think people get stomped to death?

Fucking Wickedfire. You guys are genius marketers.

so, black friday has become a pathetic mandatory discount day there for wal-mart? i mean, no company makes use of it to up their sales and profits with better deals?

Um... There is more than one Walmart location. It's understandable that across thousands of locations they couldn't keep the #1 best-selling toy on the shelves for the busiest day of the year... THIS IS NOT EVIL. It's simply supply & demand.

Meanwhile, HG has MILLIONS of servers... The thing they are selling they can easily hand out thousands more of... But instead they acted like Dickheads.

Not Cool. -Not against the law, of course, but when you go from physical supply to something like space on a server then the rules change and people know it.

The HostGator.com Network - HostGator.com
They don't say the word "millions," I give you that, but what else do you fill up 78,000 square feet of server room with?

Plus, have you seen the google maps picture of the Planet? It's an eyesore from space... Like Truman's dome!

Hostgator only hosts about 1.5 million domains, total. Web Hosting Report for HOSTGATOR.COM

About a year ago they had around 7,000 servers TOTAL (shared, reseller, dedicated, backup boxes, etc): HostGator Peer Support Forums - View Single Post - How many servers does HG owns?

Last I heard they had about 1,600 shared servers. That's a hell of a lot less than "MILLIONS".

"millions of servers" should be just figure of speech. then again you can argue whichever company claims to offer unlimited disk space and unlimited bandwidth (traffic or transfer or whatever) should have at least "millions of servers" or even unlimited servers. (the joke is not on the hosting companies here but on the customers who, even having what you call sense, still fall for unlimited thingy. and since you can't change stupid people from being stupid, the hosting companies took the unlimited route and offer them unlimited hosting with technical limitations like inodes and server resources limitations etc)

besides the figures that webhosting.info site offers are quite old. hostgator on its site claims to host over 4 million domains as of now. the no. of servers has not much to do with the no. of domains they host. it's more about how powerful each machine is and the hard disk capacity they put on each server. it's more of a company to company policy.

Shared hosting? I wouldn't even buy a VPS or dedicated server from a company that mainly deals with shared hosting.

Did you expect the HostGator CEO to be on the other end of their '24 hour live chat'? Don't get angry at poor Justin, he didn't plan the promotion. Justin has to listen to people like you complain about the company he has no control over, all day.

Monday is only going to be 50% off? I guess I'll spring for it and go for 1 year, so it expires around the time next black friday comes around.
