Disclaimer: this isnt a How to, just a little story I wanted to share.

Hi all, here's a little summary of how Sarkozy and the french secrets services helped me make mid-end 4 figures past weeks, with little to no cost, using only :

- The news and current events in france
- People's built-in paranoia
- a phone
- a brain
- Open source software
- the intertubes/phonebook
- a pair of balls

Some weeks ago in france, some french news paper agency /news website working on a big story about the corruption in french government got robbed of their computers (the ones owned by the journalist working on the case), creating a huge drama, theses agency accusing the fr secrets services of doing the robbery (kinda obvious).

Basically what I did was cold calling or going myself to local/regional press agency and some others sentives enterprises to sold them a package including :

Simple audit of their security system.
A basic speach to their employe about security and best practice.
Setup of truecrypt + a simple script for crypted backup of their data.

Its super basic, but believe me or not, it sold like HELL.

Seeing how it was going, like all good aff marketers, I upsold (sp?) the next clients others services, including online mails and data storage with google apps and some basic hosting for their crytped backups, rebilling the shit out of them.

I almost never did B2B things other than selling websites/flyers and others basic shits, and now I can't stop thinking about others plan like this one.

Hope you'll find this useful else go fuck yourself.

tldr: Using the bad news and the built-in fear peoples have is a good money maker.

personal note: Thanks to the one who did the case study of cold calling a while ago, soupyone or something, it served me well.

I'm going to start a case study of building a very simple offline IT llc-like, focusing on the encryption/backup niche market for small/medium brick and mortar business.

Since its offline, I dont care about outing details, stats and others.

New goal

Build a client base of at least 10 client from each of theses professions:

Lawyers, Accountants, Doctors, Psychiatrist.

Targetting data sensitive jobs will make it easier to sell. Having a limited scope of clients will help me to pin-point exactly their needs and build trust into theses circles.

What I am doing now

Gathering datas of:

Failure disk rate, Average cost of Hard drive restoration, Lost/theft rate of professional laptop and others things like this so I can make a fucking sweet chart to present for when I prospect, again playing on the fear factor.

What will come next

If all goes well, try to contact truecrypt to know if they have a certification available or something like this. Else Ill make my shit up.

Offering free package to high target business in my region in exchange of recommandation/seal of approval . ( already have 2 of them from news agency)

Upsell more. Ie: hosting, analytics, market research, webdesign,ppc,w/e....

That's all folks.

I'll update when i'll have new ideas and/or things finished.

Too bad can't edit previous post.

Working with sensitive data business (ie: law/health..), I'm going to bring with me for futur meeting my blank criminal record so it can help to gain trust with the clients, moreso if I offer free shit.

I'll ask for a testimonial of my service on paper, with their compagny logo + signature in exchange of the freebie.

I'll scan and store them for later use on my website (WIP) so no fake review BS .
I will use the copies to gain trust and confidence in my services/skills for futur meeting.

I hope it will give ideas to at least one of you.

Fast update, i'll do a bigger one with stats details and shit later.

What I did:

Made a 2 page market study with clear questions about the client network/computer parc and hes need.
Made 3 sheets to support my product. 2 about the risk of his current situation and 1 about my product with a solution for each problem.

I cold called/met 14 business owner in the last days.
5 of them signed a contract for backup plan
1 of them asked me to wait next month.

> 30% convertion rate.

Life is good.
