I know the new MEGA is in beta and all but it's unusable. 500GB Free is killer but if you can't use the damn service it's a #FAIL. I want to back some pictures up onto it from one computer to another and uploading takes forever/freezes up and downloading is just as bad....There's my 2 cents on the new MEGA

It's been fine for me.

It does upload slower than dropbox or drive, but that's to be expected. I was still getting 150-200kBps

Your backup won't do much good when the .gov seizes the servers

He has said in his tweets that demand was way more than they expected. They are increasing capacity and should be up to speed by next week.

It's 50GB free, not 500
and you need to sing this song to make it faster:

they use distrubeted hosting schema, so servers are all over the world, with the exception of the US.

So... good luck with to the .gov with the seizing.

The service went from 0 to 1 million users in 24 hours.

The guy formerly ran 4% of all internet bandwidth.

It'll be fine in no time.

Just testing it now. 130kb/sec upload. It will get better.

I did note when creating the private / public key setting up my account:

"We have collected entropy from your mouse movements and keystroke timings" to use creating the keys...

LOL@ https://mega.co.nz/#hosting

Limitations:
Unfortunately, we can't work with hosting companies based in the United States. Safe harbour for service providers via the Digital Millennium Copyright Act has been undermined by the Department of Justice with its novel criminal prosecution of Megaupload. It is not safe for cloud storage sites or any business allowing user-generated content to be hosted on servers in the United States or on domains like .com / .net. The US government is frequently seizing domains without offering service providers a hearing or due process.

I just uploaded a 20Mb PDF file and got well over 500kb/sec!

This guy is clearly an egomaniac fat fuck unlike any other in the history of shady internet business.
That being said, he is also and international badboy and a genius and I respect him immensely.

Someone just sent me a file with https://www.wetransfer.com/ and the interface was clean as hell and it worked awesome.

Until the US decides to cut funding to whatever country is in question. They may not be able to seize the data but could have the servers knocked offline.

you watch too many movies.

cutting funding to countries? lmao They will cut funding to all the countries in the world or what? What about countries that don't give a shit? Have you heard of a site called thepiratebay?

The US was pressuring Sweden to get Pirate Bay turned off or prosecuted. It happens.

The NATO countries are the US and As little bitches really.
