The oil spill from a coastal resident's perspective- shocking, sickening.

you see the body of water that takes up both sides of the map? thats the pacific ocean. see the body of water to the right of north america? yeah, that's the atlantic ocean. if i need to explain myself any further you may as well give up because you will be officially as retarded as nick throlson.

So if the shit is already made it to the keys, what would be the next logical place for it to go? The Atlantic, correct? Around the tip of Florida into the Atlantic.

So please, tell me how what I said was dumb.

...maybe even the Pacific. But I think the way the gulf stream flows takes it away form the Pacific but I'm not positive.

You do know where the Pacific is don't you?

It amazes me that we, the people, still allow governments to grant oil drilling licenses so close to pristine coastal areas without any fall back plans in place - fucking amazing.

Its happened in Australia this year (hardly any local news and blamed on Thailand - Indonesia will get the environmental fallout!!), it is constantly happening in the Niger Delta (but no one gives a fuck about this one) and now in the Gulf of Mexico.

The Oil companies should have fail safes on their rigs, the Governments should have backup plans in case all goes wrong.

Both should take full responsibility.

nah we just straight up think you are annoying, has nothing to do with soccer (lol)

Please, you're clearly upset over the soccer thread. Stop fucking crying.

OK...

Now, is the Pacific Ocean a lake or does it actually share water/interact with the other oceans?

Right, it shares water with and interacts with the other oceans which means what? There is the possiblity of traces of oil will make it that far.

I didn't say fucking tarballs are going to be washing up in California or Japan, I'm talking about microscopic fucking traces of oil. Where do you think it goes? You think it just disappears? No, it becomes more and more spread out and harder to see/find as the oil gets less concentrated. Doesn't mean the shit just all the sudden disappears.

All I'm saying is that this could effect a lot more than just the Gulf.

Here is where your logic falls short:

In nature, without humans, thousands of gallons of oil go into the sea all the time. Much more then BP could ever let out.

The reason it normally doesn't cause trouble is because of concentration. Same reason water is necessary but can be a poison if consumed too much of, or a poison like heroin can be enjoyable if you don't over due it: The Poising is in the Dose, not the substance.

In the case of the BP oil spil, it is doing great harm because it is highly concentrated. If you could somehow dissolve all that oil into all the world's water, it wouldn't cause any damage. It would be too low of a concentration to matter. Get it?

BTW, I normally like you LY, even though you voted to ban me. But right now you are talking out of your ass (I know, I've done it :P)

But at any point in the near future will anyone here gladly leave to a fema camp if they come a knocking?

This just seems like a good time to start the UN Agenda 21 plan

Yea, I'm definitely talking out of my ass and I'm damn sure no scientist, just an internet spammer :D

Just my opinion/how I see it. Maybe I'm wrong, wouldn't be the first and certainly won't be the last.

Also, don't remember voting for you...was probably just trying to deflect the percentages away from me cause I definitely have no issues with you lol

I read somewhere today that they had to un-cap that containment thing they had on there because one of their robots knocked into it or some dumb shit, this shit is shitty shit and its out of shitting control.

shit.

I swear this shit just gets more depressing every day. Someone bomb that fucking thing already and get this over with. We can land on a planet millions of km away with pinpoint precision yet they fuckin whine about 5k feet under water, what the fuck.

But but markets are perfect!!! We need LESS GOVERNMENT regulation NOT MORE! Can't have it both ways.....

I had plenty of good times at the beach in Longboat Key, Tampa, Sarasota etc as a kid. Too bad my kids won't be able to have the same experience.
