Secret to happy life: Eat food, fuck a lot, take big ol' dumps, lots of sleep, be hapy, feel gay, have some coin in the pocket, intoxicated around the clock.

Nobody can be positive of Life's purpose.
In fact what is life, and what is the universe?

In theory, we're all just a bunch of atoms in some sort of matter space.
I definitely feel that the universe is too complex (from galaxies, to orbits, to the way the heart pumps) to be created by chance.

Sometimes, i like to reflect back on a quote from Office Space:
"Go out there and find something that makes you happy." - Jeniffer Aniston

"I think human consciousness is a tragic misstep in human evolution. We became too self aware, nature created an aspect of nature separate from itself. We are creatures that should not exist, by natural law. We are things that labor under the illusion of having a self, a secretion of sensory experience and feeling, programmed with total assurance that we are each somebody, when in fact everybody's nobody. I think the honorable thing for our species to do is deny our programming, stop reproducing, walk hand in hand into extinction, one last midnight, brothers and sisters opting out of a raw deal."

This thread is now about HBO's True Detective.

How is that show? I've yet to watch it but pretty excited to netflix binge it.

I can't think of the purpose of life on a 1-human level... That sounds religious and stupid to me. If there is a 'purpose' to life, it'll be a struggle over eons, or possibly Billions of years.

If you start to look at it like this, it's pretty clear that agent Smith was right about our species; we act like viruses on the meta level.

Intelligence beyond what we needed for survival changed us from a normal species that fills an ecological niche into one that consume too much of everything. I'm not going to do the popular thing and say we've become an evil plague on this universe though... I'd imagine that all life-filled planets have this happen to them as well.

So the question is; will we always be overconsumers? Or will one day we have enough intelligence to solve this problem too?

If not, then I see no purpose in life at all... It's just a crappy accident with an eternity of suffering as a consequence.

If so however; My guess for the purpose of life is to become smart enough to get back in sync with nature somehow. Perhaps by ascending into a pure-energy form... Maybe that's what dark energy is.

Who knows? Life's weird. Go ask a dolphin.
