The Speaker Scam

yeah I was recently shopping around for a 50" or bigger projector and screen for my living room .. found out these guys are doing a variation of the speaker scam on Craigslist.
ad said the speaker/projector combo was worth like $4700 but the guy only wanted like $1800. I had actually called him and left a message trying to get ahold of him and while I was waiting for him to call me back I read tons of complaints about the model in the ad... including a bunch of people on some forums complaining they got took.
The guy called me back and I ended up getting him to drive about 95 miles north of Sacramento to meet me in the old apartment complex I used to live in. He got lost trying to find the place, then when he got there I trolled the shit out of him for like an hour and a half on the phone, giving him excuses for why I couldnt walk outside yet.
after that I just flagged their ads hard whenever they reposted it for that week.. then they seemingly moved on to another city.
I knew what speaker scam was right away though ... few guys on the mag crew I was on did it. At least with the magazines people actually got a quality product

These guys used to come around my area and the older kids would setup traps to rob 'em for both speakers and cash. Mid evening in fall/spring when it still gets dark out early. Most of these cats ride with two people so they don't get jumped/robbed by other crews but you can't compare them to gangsters, at all. Just annoying fuckers trying to get by with shady flips, half way crooks..
When they approach you, just say "i used to run your hustle, you hit 5 sales yet today?" < they'll leave you alone every time, and if they DID hit 5 sales, and actually told you, then chances are they have a few K on their person, prime targets for karma. OP: Next time don't call the cops, tell a few of your local G's/thugs/etc. if you know any, they'll thrive on this shit.
