All of the previous posts are good ways to find 'a niche'. You could also (depending on how much time you spend out and about socializing) just keep your ears open for what people are talking about (i.e. have you ever heard of, my friend is looking buying a (blank), or something like that).
Maybe stay in your local region. I'm in Southern Cali and healthy living, supplements/products are a really big thing here due to the healthy lifestyles of a high percentage of the population. Maybe if your in Miami you may want to look into products geared toward the Latin and Caribbean markets (just an example).
Or, just find something, get a few sub niches (example: main niche: coffee; sub-niche1: latte, sub-niche2: cappuccino). Any if going down the arbi path ($$$$ cha-ching, mass-benjamins!), lets not forget it's all about volume.
Remember, it is easer than you think to get a niche, and the more time you spend drilling down into various details increases the paralysis by analysis effect and you continue to lose time learning the biz and making that $$$$.
Best of luck!
