Things I "Must" Do in NewYork Besides ASE

sorry for thread hijack. anyone have a favorite jewelry store? i'm looking for a breitling while im there
Check out 47th Street, between 5th and 6th, or Canal Street in Chinatown. If you're shopping downtown, bring cash and they'll cut you a better deal. Don't forget to haggle, haggle. It's all negotiable. ;)

shakesack for burger and shake, l and b spumoni gardens for Sicilian pizza, Margon in Time square for Cuban sandwich, dirty bird to go for Fried chicken

if you want real Chinese food go to flushing. Chinatown is for tourist only.

get a unlimited metro card and a bus map, look for bus that go up and down main avenue. get off whenever you see something interest you. that's the best way to travel NYC

i always go to http://newyork.seriouseats.com/ for food review

Le Bernardin for sea food/fish. Last time I was there I had to wait 20-25 minutes on my 10:30pm reservation, the waiter was extra-snotty, and the tables seemed too close together. I'd still go back though, that night might have been a fluke, it was fine the other times I've been.
Never had that experience at Le Barnardin. I've been there a few times now, and it's definitely my favorite upscale restaurant in NYC.

Not sure what part of Chinatown you've been to, but the places that I've been to had very few tourists, and very little English being spoken. Definitely not gringo-style Chinese food. And you don't need to go to Flushing, either, since Xi'an Famous Foods (not your typical Chinese food, by far) has Chinatown & St. Marks Place locations now.

Nintendo World Store

The World of Disney

...And at that rate, you'll probably catch me at Toys 'R Us, too.

Yeah, me either. I used to go there a lot when I lived in Manhattan. Like I said, it was an anomaly. I'd go back. It's definitely not my favorite since I don't really like fish/seafood that much. That honor goes to Daniel, but that's probably because I used to live 2 blocks away so it was a short walk.

at night time go check out ludlow and orchard st in the LES (Lower East Side). Take off at Broadway Lafayette station and walk. My favorite area to go out... actually my favorite area of NYC. Nice chill bars, good little restaurants, hot girls ;)

go to a broadway.. it's actually pretty fun and right there in Times Square :D

tickets are too late to buy now (gotta get them really early AFAIK) but it's good for getting away from the business of ASE and all the walking around the conference (I almost fell asleep lol)

M&M store is also a must see (in Times Square also)

Just ate an awesome hamburger and fresh fries at Five Guys Burgers and Fries, one block north of the Hilton.

I've been reading about this place everywhere and had to try it.

xi'an was nothing before that guy from travel channel made a show there..way overhyped

yea i know that part of China town but those restaurant are operated by Fuzhou people...i wouldn't eat anything made by them for sure

if i have to eat in Chinatown i will go to Vanessa's Dumpling House.

RUB BBQ for BBQ...freakin AMAZING

Rub is crap..went there twice. meat was dry and sauce tasted weird. Rack and Soul around Columbia is a much better BBQ joint

Well smart-fuck, considering I've been traveling all day, just checked into the hotel and just wanted to fucking grab a quick bite at a place I've been curious about, and that was within walking distance, it was just fine.

I'm having breakfast, lunch and dinner at McDonalds tomorrow.

Back in my suite now. Went to Stand Up NY, I won't recommend it, cause i hear it's hit or miss, but it was actually really good. Plane got in late, so I just stopped at some outside fine dining french cafe near here(there must be a random deli-cafe every two buildings!) Just did the timesquare/siteseeing thing today. Probably doing Natural History and Wicked next.

I'm down to go to Grimaldis with a group of peeps if anyones wants to put that together, and split some taxis. either way i'm going.

Anyways, thinking about going to meetup202 party tommorow at 5, unless theres something better??
