Think you can solve the Federal Deficit? Prove it

close corporate tax loopholes, cut Defense by 1/3, cut the bullshit known as Homeland Security, end both wars, estate tax lol you're dying you can't take it with you.

Double everything else- transport, education, roads, etc and we have a better country.

Very cool quiz i got to the part about social secrity but don't feel like finishing with a 90billion surplus

Defense Overseas Bases and Crap 601 = 25
End War Iraq + Afgan = 0
HomeLand Security (fuck them) = 5Bil

-43B Deficit Done.

I call total bullshit that we need 601 Billion for regular operations. What was this budget at in say 1995? in 2000 wikipedia graph says 300bil with no increase and no "wars".

Edit: Well I guess 25 is to low, maybe 250.. the entire thing is way to over simplified anyway. Maybe I can just check the stop sucking corporate cock checkbox?

Unrealistic, and doubling everything else wouldn't make us better; the Soviets spent on all that shit and they had bread lines. I cut defense to $350B, zeroed Iraq/Afgh., did cuts to transportation (show me amtrak isn't a money pit), increased scientific research, cut the TSA, cut federal spending on drug enforcement, cut all military aid to foreign countries, cut funding to the UN, and many other cuts. Cut farm subsidies in a big way too, fuck that shit, that's how we get HFCS and ethanol hurting our food supply and making us fat. Stop subsidizing corn so damn much and we won't need a sugary drinks tax.

Taxes made a new bracket for $1M+ but not extreme, cut the estate tax (I can't take it with me but I damn sure can make sure my kids aren't the victims of government theft, this is a drop in the bucket revenue-wise anyway).

Got social security to 112.5% by raising the age to 68, removing the income cap, and something else I forgot.

$65B deficit and SS at 112.5%. Realistically I'd cut medicare/medicaid as well to make this a surplus (raise medicare age gradually, matching social security and eventual phase out), and then the ever fun "waste" cutting, which at this low of a deficit level would make a difference.

On a side note is anyone else wondering what would happen if you took defense down to like 350 ended the wars and killed DHS and moved that 400bil+ to a single other category?

Like if one year we dumped it all into Renewable Energy or if it all went to Railroads or NASA just for 1 year. Think of what could be done when you budget goes from less that 20bil to 400bil. You could get tons of shit built and then all you would need is up keep after that.

The estate tax makes it hard for private capital to form. It's an absolutely horrible tax, because it doesn't allow heirs to manage family capital, and forces capital flight overseas.

not necessarily, things take a lot of planning, time, etc to execute, so a big one time...stimulus? probably wouldn't do much instantly and would likely just sit in the 'bank' for a long time.

Return it to the private economy where entrepreneurs can build new businesses and provide goods and services.

This idea that the government can spend even 1 penny efficiently is so misguided. There wouldn't be a deficit crisis if the government could manage money.

It was really simple... I just persecuted all the stupid people in each case until the surplus budget was as high as it would go.

This whole exercise has strengthened my view that the US government mainly serves to make stupid people comfortable at the cost of limiting smart people's freedom & prosperity.

You didn't already know this? :P

I knew it before but thought that maybe it was something that had a slight or moderate effect... Something I could live with.

Now I feel like the whole system was built around that purpose, like the entire foundation for America. -Something that is pure socialism or even Communism.

Yeah they're the problem. Ignore that 600 billion dollar defense budget.

on (show me amtrak isn't a money pit), increased scientific research, cut the TSA, cut federal spending on drug enforcement, cut all military aid to foreign countries, cut funding to the UN, and many other cuts.

Very fair and absolutely unbiased.

Much of the spending on defense is socialism.
Absolutely, I slashed and burned all that stuff like foreign aid, too. -I frankly wouldn't put that shit anywhere near the defense budget.

Why pay to help other countries' poor when we shouldn't be paying to help our own?

Basically I just increased the nukes and guns and cut out the rest. :D

Still think of me as a Liberal now? ;)

Do you think we need bases abroad in like, 100+ countries? Totally unnecessary waste of money, we can have a bad ass military without spending to maintain all those bases.

Nope. Totally useless unless they provide us with a direct advantage we need.

I'd personally review them on a case-by-case, do away with the ones that aren't 'producing' for the USA, and the rest of course need to be managed well.

Meanwhile, the gunship production might increase a bit...
