Think you can solve the Federal Deficit? Prove it

Spoken like a truly stupid person.

You do realize that our ability to rattle our saber the loudest is the only thing that is keeping you alive, right?
Keeping me alive from who? The terrorists living in the caves of Afghanistan? Nah, you're right.. It's really scary bordering countries like Canada and Mexico.

If you can look at that chart and tell me it's not bullshit then you're retarded. There's no reason to spend the amount we do on defense. We spend all this money to protect us from small groups of people living in caves, half way across the world. The only things we should spend serious money on are nuclear arms and at the same time work towards nuclear disarmament agreements with the countries that will cooperate. The real threat is China and Russia, and I highly doubt they'll attempt to invade the US, huge standing army or not.

^Lol. Dude brought an expenditure chart to show me which militarilies are dangerous.

I'm not even going there... Someone else wanna handle this fool?

On a facet be aware is anybody else questioning what would come about in circumstance you took defense decrease to like 350 ended the wars and wiped out DHS and moved that 400bil+ to some solitary other category?

Like if just one yr we dumped it all into eco-friendly vitality or if it all went to Railroads or NASA just for one year. think about what could possibly be finished at any time you spending budget goes from much less that 20bil to 400bil. you will get tons of shit built after which all you would need is up retain subsequent that.

No, I'm showing you how much WE SPEND. You sit around and bitch about government assistance programs like it really matters when its an insanely small percentage of the budget. The real money is going into defense, and is being BADLY mismanaged. Government officials hook their buddies up with contracts and get a cut (This is how we got TSA full body scanners), all because NO ONE will question or cut defense spending, because all Republicans bitch about is how everyone in the world is out to get us.

I'm sorry, wasn't your chart meant to respond to my point about loud sword rattling? You even said just before the chart:
Keeping me alive from who? The terrorists living in the caves of Afghanistan? Nah, you're right.. It's really scary bordering countries like Canada and Mexico.
To that point I say it's silly to compare the military budgets of countries because the many variables, including the levels of technology, size of area to defend, upkeep of thinks like nuke silos, bribes to officials, price of hookers for the defense contractors, price of lobbyists... You name it, it can be warped, hidden, or totally made transparent. Such charts are barely a loose suggestion.

Yeah, there is probably more mismanagement in there than you and I could shake a stick at. -But they didn't give us the option to fix that in the poll, did they? Only move the money.

While I do agree that DHS is pretty unnecessary in it's current form, the rest of the military spending is a necessity for the following reason.

Exhibit A:

Answers.com - How many gallons of gasoline are used in US in a day

so 388,600,000 x 365 days a year x $8/gallon (rate without the U.S. military all over the world all up in people's bidnezz) - 388,600,000 x 365 days a year x $4/gallon (approx current rate or soon to be)
= 567,356,000,000 or 567.356 billion dollars

If military spending < 567.356 billion then we have gained more in value from it than what the price of gas would be without it.

The shit is not complicated -- you balance the budget the same way you balance a budget at home, by being realistic and making sacrifices and prioritising. People act as if this is a difficult concept -- it's incredibly simple really. Some of the dumbest fucking people on earth can still manage to balance a checkbook and make choices between this expenditure and that one.

James Ostrowski fixed it years ago; nobody listened unfortunately.

Easily done , they also fail to take into account alot of things with regards to pay reduction ,ect.

The problem is stopping the handouts to people who are used to living on government cheese.

I got a $257 billion dollar surplus by:

Cutting defense in half
Cutting Foreign Aid by 75%
Increased Education by 10%
Increased Transportation 5%
Increased tax rates on everybody slightly
Increased corporate taxes a lot
Dropped the real estate tax

Sure everybody would hate me cause I just raised their taxes, but that $250 Billion I could pay half of China, invest in renewable energy, and still have enough money so another Katrina wouldn't happen. Granted this was only an exercise, I'd also

- Finally legalize pot and put a sin tax on it
- Add a 3% corporate tax on companies who employ more then 50% of their employees outside the U.S.

Flat tax - Eliminate the IRS
Eliminate the Dept. of Education - let states handle their educational systems
Eliminate Social Security - make people responsible for their own fucking retirement
Eliminate the DEA - decriminalize and tax drugs
Lower corporate taxes - give incentives for them to stay in the US
Eliminate Obamacare in 2014 when it goes into effect

Flat tax - Eliminate the IRS
Greedy ppl (Conservatives) cannot allow. Will never happen.
Eliminate the Dept. of Education - let states handle their educational systems
Libs cannot allow, especially teachers with pensions and unions. Will never happen.
Eliminate Social Security - make people responsible for their own fucking retirement
Old people, Stupid people, Broke people, and again, Libs & Unions will not allow. Will never happen.
Eliminate the DEA - decriminalize and tax drugs
Libs, weapon manufacturers, and Parental organizations won't allow. Will never happen.
Lower corporate taxes - give incentives for them to stay in the US
Democrats won't allow much. Will only happen a little bit, in time.
Eliminate Obamacare in 2014 when it goes into effect
Hmm. Might happen once Obama's knocked out of office. -Of course it may do more harm then good at that point to do so.

In fact every one of your examples has serious drawbacks... Some I wouldn't mind at all, like more coke-heads overdosing, but others I would be scared shitless of, like corporations given even more of a foothold on this country.

The problem with this country is the many seriously conflicting views forced to live under the same roof. Man I'd love to see the states go their own ways, but I seriously doubt it'll happen in my lifetime.

Of course , the options aren't there, but if I had the chance , I would :

Dismantle the department of energy and department of education.

Reduce EPA funding by 75%
Eliminate corporate taxes and replace the IRS with a flat tax + national sales tax hybrid
Reduce all federal employee pay to parity with private medians
Cut all politician pay in half
Allow citizens to remove their money from social security if they pay a tax to rollover to a private retirement. (Bush tried to get this passed, it may very well have saved SS if it would have been passed).

I've always been really thankful that none of you guys holds any power at all (except for your 'vote') in our political system. after going through a few of these posts... even more so. liberal here, conservative there, isnt this 50/50 fuck all compromise thinking what got America into the spot they are now in the first place?
