When I lived up in the mountains in Colorado, my crazy neighbor down the road (well more like a dirt path) used to sit on his porch and shoot rattlesnakes all day with his shotgun. We always heard gunshots going off lol.

There are no rattlesnakes in the mountains of Colorado.

There are tons in the foothills and lower, but not in the mountains.

For the most part they are scared of us. If you have a little awareness of your surroundings it's not hard to stay safe even in areas heavily infested with the buggers.
