TLDR; Gentrified collateral kicked back to his mom's house in Daly city trying to rationalize to himself why his life will still be ok without San Francisco.
San Francisco has some of the best, craziest annual events around. It's compact, people are open minded and welcoming, there's a lot of hustle with the tech scene and it isn't into status flaunting like LA. It's a great city. Value comes at a price.

I'm saying I'm sure he's never lived in midwest suburbia. Everything he's whining about sounds petty. San Fran has a ton going on in comparison to most of the US. Kentucky is a random example.

i've lived in SF all my life. it really depends on where you live in SF. people generalize the entire city as pot-smoking, hipster, yuppie, and techie. however, this is just a stereotype. a stereotype like about how all asians are smart, but then u find out u've got yourself some dumb fucking asians (no racial. im partially asian).
different parts of the city are like their own cities - completely different cultures and people.
you've got the Sunset which is boring as hell, full of the elderly and foreigners, it's always foggy, but hey, you're near the beach right? well fuck you because it's either foggy or raining. and if it's sunny, it'll still be cold and windy.
then you've got bayview hunters point which is basically where you go if you wanna get mugged by black people. fun!
then there's the tenderloin which is just all the worst humans crammed into a small radius. seeing people poop on the hood of cars is not an uncommon sight. my friend lives in an apartment there, saw someone got shot outside her window, texted me the pic of the dead body and the blood everywhere lol.
and finally, the rest of SF (pacifica, mission, soma, downtown, noe valley etc.) is hippie potsmoking yuppie fucks.
what sucks about SF is that if u do have friends living there, it's likely u live pretty far from each other. the only thing SF really has going for it is the ton of diverse people who are crammed together. the environment sucks, its mostly dirty and it aint pretty unless you go to golden gate park which is awesome. sf events are awesome too. and food trucks. and the house of air. fuck it, sf is awesome.
