Time to get a job.

I have a problem though. I haven't had a job in years. I have 2 companies where I'm a CEO, but profits are limited and I need capital. I also need to eat and pay rent, so I must raise my revenues.

What the heck do I put on the resume? If I say I own 2 companies, is anyone going to hire me? I mean I can't just say I didn't have a job in years. I also got no college education.

What to do?
 


Put down that you were self employed for those 2 years and what your duties where. If no different then working for someone else.

Exactly. Tell them you would like to see what their company has to offer you, etc. Just like any other job you'd apply for (even if you weren't self-employed)
 
hate to break it to you... but you weren't a CEO. DO NOT PUT CEO ON YOUR RESUME - you'll look like a douche and be headed for the breadline.

It depends on what experience you have, what type of job you are applying for, and how the person reading your resume interprets it.

As others have said, if you ran a company with 1-3 employees, calling yourself a CEO makes you look a bit douchebaggish.
 
Treat it the same as if it were a job; also, if you get past the first interview or 2, be prepared to show proof of income/revenue.

I didn't realize a website making ~$100/month off of adsense was considered a company. But yo defnitly deserv some respek for that shit, bro - that's some big accomplishments.

Go find a job using the skills you have. Economy is going down... performance marketing is going to get much more attention. Look at your skill set and create a job title for yourself some suggestions.

Online Marketing Director
Senior Search Strategist
Online Direct Response Manager

Then go to companies that could use someone who can use a position like that and break down the door until someone gives you the time of day.

Most larger companies don't even understand how the internet works, and believe me when you have their resources everything is much easier.

Sidenote... I used to do SEO for a company that has a PR 10... can you imagine how EASY everything was???
