Tips for buying a used car??

Nobody cares for cash.
Whats the difference between a check they can cash from a bank or dealer financing they make a fee on.

I believe it's just kinda inferred that a check would work just as well.

you end up paying interest for years?

He means on the behalf of the seller, what's the difference for them.

not really

Peasant mentality:

I AM MAKING MORE MONEY THEREFORE I MUST INCREASE MY EXPENDITURE UNNECESSARILY SO THAT THE OTHER PEOPLE WILL SEE I AM MAKING MORE MONEY BECAUSE MY SELF-WORTH DEPENDS ON THEIR APPROVAL.

just so that we have that comment right you are saying if the person in question is making money that they should not reward themselves for their efforts or make a genuine investment in to something that will ultimately last longer without the need for repairs.

On a slightly different note that comment made, if followed by successful people would mean that they would all own a car worth $500 as opposed to $50,000. That is just outright stupid... whats the point of having money if you do not enjoy it???

Fine. If you have it and it's stable go for it. Who gives a fuck? I was just sayn that I'd let somebody else (you) take that 5-10k loos for NOTHING. It just doesn't make sense for me. Ballin or not (currently not).

My .02...

Around 6 years ago when I was still in school I had a job in the detail shop of the Mercedes/Porche dealer in my city. Was poking around the computer system as I had access to such things and I was looking at the markup on used Porche's. Saw 10k+ markups on a regular basis but do keep in mind that is a luxury brand.

Moral of the story: there is always room to come down on the price.

I would go for this balling van personally

People's ability to maintain a strong position in a negotiation is oftentimes severely limited when there is actual cash in front of them.

My dad (worked in autobody for 25 years) would walk onto a lot for a car which was already priced right, with a bank certified check at 80% of advertised price, and walk to the newest, most terrified looking young salesman.

Just point the the car, pull the check out, and ask who to make it out to?

Worked more than half the time. Obviously the lot wouldn't give the car away for less than they got it.

End of the month works best.
