I've been staying in Dublin that last 6 weeks before here. I'd say its quite a bit easier here once you overcome their shyness.

Japan was awesome for the 2 weeks I was there in April. I ended up nearly dying from the temperature change (Bangkok at 100 F to Japan's 40-50 F) and never got to go out to Tokyo (I was bed ridden at my friends place in Chiba) but it was a really sexy country. Pretty girls everywhere! I'm gonna try and go back after ASE maybe.

so is it easy to score for foreigners? for irish?! are the one night standers nice?

Yeah, with the girls who like foreigners it's pretty easy. They're not the hot princesses, but you can find pretty good ones. I speak Japanese fairly well so I don't stick to those girls though. The hottest ones usually don't speak English.

You think I can get a job teaching English in high school even ought I'm a high school out? Probably could, if I bull shit my way through.

Ah, right. The only problem is the visa. You need a degree to get a visa for English teaching. But if you're making money from IM and don't need a job then you can basically stay here indefnitely on a tourist visa. You've just got to leave every three months (short trip to Korea or something) and re-enter to get a new tourist visa. If you're a Westerner you can do that over and over without them stopping you. I know guys who've been doing that for 10 years.

awesome man!!

Like said above it is impossible to get a real VISA teaching without a university degree in Japan.

Korea or China might be a better place to look if you dont have a HS and Uni degree.

Korea is better for money than Japan too. Especially now. Japan economy is falling apart.

Tokyo was my second stop on my 13 country trip....and it was the best city by far and wife agrees. I could spend a lot of time in Japan. Uber clean, transportation rocks, great food.

If we didn't have Obama, Tokyo would definitely get the Olympics.

WOW ... that is AWESOME. I'm definately going to live in Japan for a least 2+ years. I'll see you in Japan sometimes in the near future :D

After living there for a while, I always enjoyed leaving the city.

Hiroshima is good for all things Okonomiyaki, ABomb stuff and Baseball. Even if you don't like Baseball, go to a game and sit in the right field bleachers. You'll lose your voice by the end of the game. Miyajima shrine is also a nice getaway on a hot day.

Kyoto is aiight for traditional stuff. Temples, shrines, castles and shit like that.

Beppu hot springs is pretty relaxing if you don't mind getting naked with a bunch of tourists.

Fukuoka along the river at night has some pretty decent ramen and oden stands.

If you really must stay in Tokyo, here are my recommendations:
Kichijoji: really nice park and next to the Ghibli museum (a must see if you like movies like Princess Mononoke or Tonari No Totoro). If you go to the museum, you need to buy tickets ahead of time from any old convenience store. Kichijoji also has a pretty cool shopping district.
Ikebukuro: Not my favorite place, but they have a pretty hilarious mall (Sunshine City) that houses something called "Ice Cream City". Here you'll find pretty much every flavor of ice cream you could imagine. Including Squid Flavor.
Harajuku/Omotesando: Go here on a weekend and people watch.
Shinjuku: Golden Gai. This was a brothel neighborhood before/during and shortly after the war. Some cool old buildings are here amidst the relatively new backdrop of Shinjuku. Best seen at night.

Last bit of advice: Get the F out of Roppongi and stay at a Ryokan. These places are way more comfortable and the food is usually included in the price of a room. The food is usually the best part of it. Expect to pay at least $200/night/person.
