Any of y'all listen to downtempo or trip hop while you work? Personally I think it's the best sounds - rhythmic to keep the fingers typing away but not so complex that my brain starts trying to figure out what I'm listening to rather than focusing on the tunes.

I've got a few tracks from Thievery Corporation, Zero 7, Hybrid, Chemical Brothers, Plus Minus... Any other suggestions (preferably shit I can get off iTunes)?

massive attack

their song called "dissolved girl" is my favorite. it's the song in the first Matrix movie where Neo is sleeping on his computer desk.

peace orchestra is good too.

I'll second Massive Attack. Teardrop, Unfinished Sympathy are classic trip-hop tracks. Also check out Portishead.

Shpongle are great chillout psychedelic act. You might want to try that too.

Check out Unkle, DJ Shadow, Goldie, Coldcut, Tricky, Mr Scruff (for something a bit more off the beaten track), St Germain (for some more acid jazz stuff), Mark Farina, anything from the Xen Cuts compilations for a start.

Yeah, Simon Posford is a genius producer. Didn't know they are working on a new album, definitely something to look forward to :)

Well, I actually am working on a sort of Trip Hop style album right now titled Defyant Alliance. It's going to be pretty good, and I will have it on iTunes and all once we're done with it.

Here's a link to my Myspace if you want to check the quality of my music. The song on there titled "China Town" will actually be one of the tracks on the album. It's far from ready here, but we figured it was good enough to put out for a teaser for now.

It's by far NOT the most "spacey" song on the album, but it is out there. I'll keep you all posted.

edit: By the way, if anybody needs any type of original music content for ANYTHING, pm me. No project too big or small. I have been producing original music for years and do everything from website intromercials or backround loops, to commercial voiceovers and the likes. I'll provide samples for you to hear before you agree on any final product and I'll license it to you to use however you want.

That's actually pretty sick Dust... I like that track! It does sound a little rough, but I like the tempo and the cadence of the lyricists. Good shit man, post up when you complete some more of it.

Eh, my dad got me an iPod shuffle for christmas with a $50 iTunes card... I still have a couple bucks left on that. Honestly, iTunes is alright, but really I'm still a CD guy. I just buy most of it off Amazon, or try to get out to Second Spin or Ameoba Records... The Amoeba in Haight in San Francisco is awesome, every time I go there I end up spending $200 and getting all my music for the year. :D

Thanks a lot. I'll do that for sure. After we get the initial set of copies sold, we are going to press twice as much and I'll then start slingin them online. I am still trying to find the right "CDBaby" type store. I like the thought of selling online, but I also am a cd guy so I want to have the album and have the option of putting some of the tracks on my computer or iPod. Thanks a lot for the compliment.
