With the tightening of numerous traffic sources some affiliates are starting to get worried about how they are going to get their traffic. Social sites as well as search have always been awesome traffic sources because of the level of targeting affiliates were privilege to. As the easy money starts to fade diversification of traffic sources is going to become more and more important.
What if one day you were only able to snag up banner space on generic sites? How would you monetize that traffic?
I reality all you need to do is find the needles in the haystack.
Think about all those old school "Try To Punch The Bunny & Win A ipod" type ads. They ran on generic sites. They weren't bidding on ipod related terms. They were laundering generic traffic in an effort to make it targeted.
Think about the poll style landing pages that everyone and their mother ran for a while. The whole point was to launder generic content network type traffic and make it targeted.
What if you created an online game with the sole purpose of figuring out what a user needs/likes and then selling to that need?
There are tons of ways to arbitrage crap into gold. Get to it.
