TV Stations Must Make Ad Rates Public

What a dumb move by the FCC - they want political spending made public...who cares how much politicians spend to get reelected? As a nice side effect to this ruling, the stations will now be freely able to collude with each other on pricing, making advertising potentially more expensive for everyone...Nice.

From the piece:

A variety of broadcasters and lobbying groups have publicly opposed the decision, saying it undermines station competitiveness and provides advertisers with unfair leverage in the process.

Little guys fight H&R Block's regulatory robbery | Tax-Evasion.org

The suit challenges licensing requirements that the IRS introduced last year. Tax return preparers must take a test and obtain IRS permission—and pay fees to the bureaucracy—before they can continue to offer their services.

H&R Block and Jackson Hewitt, the largest and second- largest U.S. tax preparers, expressed support for the plan.
See how that works? Hey look! Down is up again!

I read the article. You present one side of the argument, I agree. I guess it's fair to say you're on one side of this and I'm on the other. Fair enough...

My only point was that regulations cut the legs from competition. They do not increase it, as proclaimed by broadcasters and lobbying groups. My "down is up" comment was related to them - that is, folks saying the opposite of what actually is (h/t to Orwell).

I am vague when in a hurry. That's on me. :)

This is pretty stupid considering most TV Spots arent bought directly with the networks....they are bought through cable companies
