I did an ad campaign for mainly branding of a local web development firm I work with here in Toronto, the results weren't that impressive, I think they got a long way to go before they will be able to monetize Twitter effectively.

For a full write up of our experience check this out.

2% CTR = insane!

what the fuck? IF you can get the targeting right and get your landers to convert that type of traffic it would be a killing.

I will actually look into that right now.

If they pass the twitter username over in the click path it opens tons of opportunities for background work leading to better offers

Lol @ $1.5 cpc for twitter traffic goodluckbros.jpg at running a performance campaign off of that.

Yeah, no way am I paying $1.50 cpc for Twitter traffic.

At least with Facebook ads you can turn it into a like and it's kinda like building a lower impact mailing list which you can continue to shove things in front of. Twitter there's just far too much noise for ads like that to be effective.

Promoted posts on FB do alright too, and cost sweet FA.

I wouldn't even waste my time spamming Twitter for free let alone pay money for that traffic.

I've got a 2-3% conversion rate on my twitter traffic.

Nothing compared with search, but if you can build up 100k followers, get a 2% CTR on each tweet, you've got 40 conversions each tweet you make with a money link, which isn't bad for something completely free (minus your time / a VA's)

I managed ads for the day job back when it was invite only and cost $20k to get in. I was so PO'd my boss signed us up. We did both promoted tweets and promoted account. As soon as we stopped promoting the account, followers plummeted. Their internal analytics tool for clickthroughs on links was always about 40% higher than what I was showing on bit.ly (I shortened the links before posting so I could check them). Conversions on click-throughs were crap. When it came time to renew our account, I'm happy to say my boss acquiesced and we didn't renew.

lol I just received the approval letter from twitter and i'm discouraged by everyone who posted. Guess i will postpone this. I thought it was on CPM basis any my monitor cuts the screen on 2% CTR lol. Got me excited.
