U.S. Gov Shutdown Reboot: Countdown To The Shutdown, Part Deux

If you haven't yet watched Century of the Self then you can't possibly know where the root of all these problems are, and why it is all so purposefully twisted.
The Century of Self was very informative. I'd also recommend watching..

Speaking of educating the populace, today from Cafferty:

One of the requirements for becoming a citizen of the United States is passing a written civics test. Questions include: What are the two parts of the U.S. Congress? Who is Commander in Chief of the military? What is the highest court in the United States?

Pretty easy, right?

Well last month, Newsweek gave 1,000 Americans the U.S. citizenship test to see if they could pass it if they had to. 38% failed. Questions like why we fought the Cold War stumped 73%. Defining the Bill of Rights tripped up 44%. 29% couldn't name our current vice president. And 6% weren't sure when we celebrate Independence Day.

Good grief. We're doomed. lol

Are you sure you got the right film? That thing is decades old, poorly produced, and just a 7 minute snippet of a larger documentary.

I followed it back to their promoting site (thecorporation.com) though, and I found something AWESOME. Below is a film that explains it best, but they are putting together an AMENDMENT to stop corporations from influencing laws and saying who is elected.

VERY. GOOD. SHIT. Highly recommended watching for every American.

Of course ultimately, the ppl who have to vote on the amendment are the ones who are taking corporate lobby bribes right now as we speak. I feel something even more tricky must be done to circumvent this.

Something on the scale of Wikileaks or a massive, worldwide hack a la anonymous. Social Media would have to play a big part too...

won't matter - the cable companies are gonna destroy the web and the end of times is right around the corner in 2012.

Unbelievable pussies, Boehner is toast. The Republican Party needs to be purified and purged of these weak-willed, wishy-washy appeasers. Osama was terrified of a "shutdown" and everyone realizing how unnecessary 60% of the government actually is. John Boehner acted like a fucking bitch here.

This is going to be an interesting election in 2012, you've got Obama who hasn't delivered what he promised up until this point and on the other side you've got an exceptionally weak group of candidates in Romney, Huckabee and possibly trump/palin.

It's definitely a tightrope act. Play to the base to secure the primaries, and then win the hearts of independents to capture the office.

Meanwhile, everyone's playing gotcha on YouTube. lol :)

Absolutely hilarious, the supposed $38 billion actually comes in at only $353 MILLION in legitimate cuts. It's almost hard to believe they try and pull shit like this.

CBO: Budget deal cuts this fiscal year’s deficit by just $353 million, not $38 billion touted - The Washington Post

The shenanigans get worse.

Traditionally, state thugs have always counted cuts in proposed spending as real cuts. For example, let's say we spent $100 billion on education in fiscal 2010. The thugs propose spending $150 billion in 2011. Fights in Congress ensue, which result in an agreement to lower the proposed spending on education to $120 billion.

They actually call that a $30 billion cut in spending. In reality, it's based on proposed spending, not actually dollars already spent. Spending actually went up $20 billion, not down $30 billion.

Shenanigans. And most of the public remains completely unaware.

I don't know if that's the case with the $38 billion (I haven't kept my eye on the ball). That might be an actual cut. But I've seen this stuff happen repeatedly over the years.

It's laughable and disgusting.

Bernie Madoff started a ponzi scheme that couldn't sustain itself and he got demonized and sentenced to life in prison.

Politicians started a ponzi scheme that couldn't sustain itself and they all got re-elected.

This is why I have such disdain for most voters. They believe they are doing good, being compassionate, etc. Most have little idea about the damage they are causing.

They are complicit.

I think this is the real problem, until people actually care nothing will change. The internet seems to be doing a nice job of spreading the news that the real media won't touch (they're bought and paid for I assume), but until things get truly ugly for the average American, I'm sure we can expect much more ridiculousness from the .gov

Here's another example of a story that should have been picked up by every major news network and had people fuming, but 99.9% of Americans will never hear/care/understand:

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2g9Fzl8_Ms"]YouTube - Ron Paul: Price Inflation Caused by Federal Reserve[/ame]

At Moxie regarding the video and price inflation:

Producer and consumer prices have started to rise in a lot of sectors. I suspect that's due, at least in part, to speculators who see what's coming down the road.

The bigger problem is the money held by the banks. As far as I know (again, my eye is not on the ball here), the Fed sent a bunch of money to the banks, pumping the monetary base. The state told the banks, "Start lending."

The banks said, "Are we legally mandated to do so?"

State: "Uh, no. We're not forcing you, but it'd be really nice of you if you did."

Banks: "Nah, tell ya what. Hold onto it for us, and give us a little interest on it." (I think it's 0.15%, or something similar).

So, most of the cash hasn't hit the money supply yet. Most of it is sitting in the Fed's vaults, collecting interest. If that cash makes it into the hands of the public (pumping the money supply), consumer prices are likely to rise quickly.

I haven't seen the Fed data on commercial loans for a few months, so I may be off-base here. A lot of cash may have trickled out through loans, etc.

Tax Increase on the wealthy.... great. As you know Jake, We'll be paying out the ass for shit that happened decades ago.

And did you notice what they're implying "wealthy" means? $250,000 per year per couple. Good grief. People on this board hit that.

Y'know, the Austrians have warned folks in the past, "Don't get too used to the good times. They ain't gonna last. It's a facade. The costs are being hidden, and pushed to the future. You can't avoid 'em."

Sometimes, those cranks know what they're talking about. ;)

It's interesting to see that 90% of Wickedfire calling for an overthrow/take to the streets solution to the problem. Do most of you not have assets or money in your bank account that you don't mind losing it all in the name of a revolution or something? You think your affiliate network is going to keep paying for your leads or whatever the fuck you're doing if the country descends into chaos? Are people going to still be using the internet or is it going to be shut off like it was in Egypt? Can you imagine the losses to your business or the advertisers if something that you seem to be advocating starts going down? Serious questions guys, because me personally and most of the people I know will probably be severely impacted by the so called Second Amendment solution.

Jake, do you have a vault full of gold & silver and a ticket to Switzerland stashed at your house? Serious question.

Jake, do you have a vault full of gold & silver and a ticket to Switzerland stashed at your house? Serious question.

Serious answer: No.

To be absolutely clear, I am not advocating a revolution.* I advocate people developing an understanding of economics, and what a democracy leads to.**

* Nor am I saying that is what you are saying.

** Yeah, I know we're a republic.
