Judge =/= to a referee.

Yea kind of a dick move imo to just drop him on his face but Machida doesn't tap so that's what happens. Same thing with Big Nog.

I honestly thought Machida had the fight after seeing the first round due to how easily he avoided Jon's strikes and came in with his own.
 
Big Nog threw it away, he attempted the same D'arce choke on Couture when he rocked him and couldn't finish it either.

Tito is obviously fighting for a paycheck and Jon Jones, as much as I hate to say it, will be champ for the foreseeable future.

to be honest i dont think tapping would of mattered. Once it was at that point where nog knew he was fucked frank mir was already going full force. The guy is a dick and would of probably broke his arm anyway.

When you are talking about guys that big and strong, it would really be hard for Mir to 'ease off' without giving nog an opportunity to slip out.. especially since he wouldn't tap anyway..

yeah Nog should have tapped earlier, because he ended up doing so anyway after the pop. I think Machida was just trapped and got choked out fast, that was tight as shit.

As for cranking submissions, it's a full contact sport. It's what they signed up for, and if you have a submission you better yank that shit hoping that it breaks. It's the fighter's responsibility to say uncle and the ref's responsibility to see if they've had enough. Brutal but it's the way it is. Mir is awesome at this, same with Rousimar.

An example of letting off would be Royce / Hughes when Hughes had a straight armbar but let it go because Royce didn't want to tap and Hughes felt that he was very close to breaking it. He ended up pummeling his head in anyway but if in an alternate universe Hughes ended up losing that fight, he would have probably wished that he fucking broke that thing off when he had the chance.

Best card in a long time, Good to sir Mir take home a shoulder, and I think Jones showed he's full skill set. People questioned his chin, those questions are not there anymore. Jones will be champ for a LONG, long time.
