I'm afraid that retired Heavyweight Champ Vitali Klitschko is going to get himself killed...at least he'll look like a badass while doing so.

Man I remember that fight like it was yesterday....I've got a contact that is part of Team Klitschko, and he sent me a glove from Austria when they were at camp...signed by Vitali.

That last pic is probably one of the most epic things I've seen in a long while...

Fuckin Ukrainians... total savages.. even their women (deadly in the sack tho).

I highly recommend the Klitschko documentary. Very interesting to see how Vitali and Wladimir grew up, Vitali talks about coming to America for the first time and how he was shocked by the reality versus what he had been taught growing up. He also couldn't believe all the different types of cheeses he saw, he thought there was just "cheese", lol.

They've started sending Army invites (there's a soviet name for them, no idea what it is in English) in my city of Odessa, so that all men below the age of 40 will have to go to a gathering point and will probably be sent to Kiev to fight the protesters. I got one.

Of course, no sane person will go.

If that doesn't tell you how desperate the current power is, I don't know what does.

In other news - many politicians from the Region's Party are fleeing the country.

Any idea what happens if you refuse? 6 months Jail?

You just don't go. They keep sending you notes and if you don't show up they send police to your house.

When police comes it's best if you aren't at home. If you are at home they either take you directly to the Voenkomat (where you get your head shaved and prepare for the train ride) or give you a warning. Or you can just "reason" with police and negotiate for them to let you go before they take you to the Voenkomat.

In the current scenario no police will come knocking on doors because they're all busy. Also no one wants to fight for the government.

The MVD, SBU and the army have already sided with the protesters in Lviv, a 2.5 mililon city.

The majority of special forces and police who are fighting against protesters and shooting real bullets in Kiev right now are Russian military dressed up in Ukrainian special forces uniforms.

The field generals of Ukrainian special forces and military know very well that they will be personally responsible for every order carried out by them even if it comes from above, so they make sure to not do anything stupid since they will be #1 target after the dust settles. They will be brought to justice for carrying out orders to use deadly force against civilians, etc. Just like in '91 when the white house was stormed in moscow.

Good luck and hope that you will will follow the independence and democracy path.
Here in Latvia in 1990 we went through something very similar - Russia's OMON tried to take the control over but failed.

So, the EU/US wants regime change in Syria/Ukraine while Russia does not want so. We now have thousands dead in Syria and the number of dead is growing in Ukraine. Which country is next in line? Seems like they'll assault Russia directly soon.

It's called being "drafted" here in the US. The last time they did it here though was during the Vietnam war. They had enough suckers to willingly sign up lately.

Good luck.

Suckers in a sense for sure, but getting that free/paid education in XX # of fields, maybe not.

"Protesters".

These are not protesters they are soldiers in a civil war and it is very obviously yet another proxywar against Putin like in Georgia.

Half of Ukraine is ethnically russian.

There have been consistent reports that the guerilla soldiers/protesters are funded by the CIA.

Good breakdown of the entire mess here:

there was an article earlier about journalists being pissed off about getting less traffic than buzzfeed/upworthy/viralnova/etc.... this is the other end of the spectrum (and the end they should be more worried about), where these days we all learn what's really going on globally by reading quality posts on international forums from folks we trust -- not from some bimbo on the sidelines doing the equivalent of publicity photos while hoping to make a name for herself with CNN's heavily-edited-to-make-it-leftist "footage".

i'll take the real shit. thanks, jorarulit (and others).
