Unethical or just business?

I agreed to be a credit reference for a network that I do most of my traffic with. I really did not expect to get any calls or anything and this particular network had always treated me well, paid me early one time when I was in a pinch.

Anyway, next thing you know I get 2 calls a few weeks apart, NOT credit reference calls from 2 networks out of the blue trying to recruit me. Affiliatenetwork.com and Diablo Media said they "came across my site." Keep in mind my basic contact site ranks probably on the 10 millionth page for affiliate marketing. So I had to either applaud them for their thoroughness or have to call BS. I knew exactly how they found me so I pressed them both for the truth. Diablo passively admitted it on the phone after lying about how she found me and said it is "just business." Affiliatenetwork.com held their ground and kept with the lie.

I guess people lie in business. After all, we are in marketing. I just have a hard time working with a company that wants to start a relationship off on a lie.

Maybe you are THAT good. If they lie to you not a good thing but maybe they were trying to be "diplomatic", I don't know your business like you do...good luck.

Am I missing something here? Why would the network you run most of your traffic to give your contact info out to other networks?

ive been feeling hilariously unethical lately: out of my 100+ fake FB accts that have real US friends in different areas of the US, I have one that I take much pride in: I am known as the guy who can't leave his house due to an illness and is trying to make friends online lol i get pms from people asking how i am doing all the time! commenting on pics, liking, poking, wall posts, happy birthdays - I have spent about 5 minutes every day for the past year.

Privacy clause is no longer respected right now but yuckystuff has some points here. If they offer something better why not grab it and ignore the consequence.
