University of Florida eliminates computer science due to budget cuts

Oh well who cares? All 10 people who wanted to major in computer science will go someplace else.

UCF did something similar, but they eliminated smaller or redundant programs. Not the entire CS department...

What the fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

Seriously wtf

They had a good CS program.

God bless US, too much priority to sports.

It's all about the money, when those CS students can fill a stadium they can have an education, until then they can pay off their student loans by washing dirty jock straps.

CS could be the dumbest department to cut right now... Why is everyone sleeping on CS degrees? The demand is insane.

Well you faggots are always bitching about free market. If there is a demand then someone else will gladly take advantage of this situation. Whats the big deal?

Considering this school is state funded and the majority of college bound kids are going to state run colleges, the free market can only do so much.

I'm pretty sure a lot less people would care if a private university did the same thing.

Maybe if you people stopped outsourcing your shit to India, the CS grads would be able to find some work.

Can't outsource sports yet.

I get the increase in sports as it draws money into the school what doesn't make sense is cutting computer science you think they would eliminate some of the gay liberal classes majors instead like poetry and whatever dumb fucking majors they mostl likely offer. . . .

this is too bad, they dont know todays tech is all based on CS and tey are dumping it, istead of promoting it? y you so dumb?

Have you guys ever hired a CS student fresh out of a 4 year uni course? They can tell you what year the Pascal language was invented in, but that's about it.
