She's heard reports of "unloaded guns" killing people. Now how could this happen? Some dumb ass took the clip out and left one in the chamber. When it discharged it was "unloaded", because it didn't have a clip in it. Yes, we all know that it wasn't actually unloaded, but she doesn't.

I live in California, and I actually did not even realize you could legally carry an unloaded gun. Why not just have "I have a tiny cock" tattooed on your forehead? Maybe I'll start packing an empty gun around. That would serve as both an excellent pussy repellant, as well as a perfect invitation to get jumped by a bunch of teenage goons and have my piece stolen.

If 'unloaded' gun means one that doesn't have the magazine clipped in, I'd imagine you could probably come up with a way for the magazine to be all but a centimetre in, all the time, until you needed it to be in in a moment of self defense. Probably not a good look though.
After some painstaking research, it turns out this video is old and out of date, and Jerry Brown (that Commie bastard) banned open carry of unloaded guns last year. Good to know. Ronald Reagan (another Commie bastard) banned open carry of loaded guns in '68.

This reminded me that it's good to review one's local gun laws. Several years ago, I was driving south on 101 near Mendo, and I was profiled by a couple of county deputies and pulled over, handcuffed, and put it in the back of a cruiser while they tossed my car. Technically, I was speeding, but this was mainly due to the fact that I was youngish, scruffy looking, driving a piece of shit minivan, and it was harvest time.
Anywho, they didn't find shit for weed, but I had a .22 pistol in the back, in a box, under some other shit. It was unloaded, of course, and there's no way I could have reached it and shot somebody in a fit of road rage or anything. But, since it wasn't in a locked box, and technically in the driver's compartment, I was subject to like a $1000 fine or some shit. They let me go, on account of they were a bit embarrassed at being such jerk offs.
Lessons learned. It hurts to sit in the back of a police cruiser in handcuffs for half an hour. They got those molded plastic seats now. Very uncomfortable. And the fourth amendment is a joke. And some cops like to dress like they're Delta Force and pretend they're doing something real important by busting ganga mules.

A lot of folks in these parts (California) don't realize that carrying a concealed weapon (loaded or not) is actually only a misdemeanor offense. Still might cost you a hefty fine but it's very unlikely you'd see any jail time unless you have a bunch of priors.
I have a friend who aspires to be a cop (actually a really, really cool dude) and he carries a piece sometimes, depending on where he is going, knowing that if he gets caught it won't jeopardize his ability to eventually become a police officer.
Yeah, I saw the misdemeanor part and was surprised by that. Figured it'd be a felony. Wiki does say a minimum ninety days in jail though. Is that not correct in your friend's experience?
