Just installed the OWC Mercury SSD in my Mac Pro. The computer is stupid fast now. Best investment I ever made. Things feel x10 faster. Boot time is like 8-10 sec, instead of 1.5 minutes.

Just make sure you keep a good backup. All it takes is one corrupted block and you can loose everything with those SSD drive

FAIL man the you should have waited, the new "500MB/s" OCZ SSD's are coming out very soon, and only cost $250 for the 120GB model with 500MB/s read and write thats like 2.5x faster then all SSD's right now.

Ya I have time machine setup. I heard the OWC SSD drives are much more reliable then HDD's.

the interface will do 300mb/s yes

the vertex 2 will do 500mb/s a sequential reading, but when doing something a bit more interesting it will still max out your interface, a slower drive wont.

So you can double the speed of say a 500 mb/s setup? Can the RAID controller really handle that type of speed?
