Anyone here a vegetarian? I have found over the last couple years, I stopped smoking, cut back drinking, stopped drinking pop and gradually have been eating less and less meat.

I'm not a full vegetarian, but my diet is really low on red and white meat. I mostly eat grains and vegetables.

This is not because I feel bad about eating cows or anything. I think I am just losing my taste for meat. I get more excited about eating curried beans, fruit and fresh salad than I do about having a burger or chicken breast.

Same story here. Stopped smoking 4 years ago, slowly stopped drinking soda and eating bad processed fast food, and slowly stopped craving meat.

I eat veggies and fish. Maybe once a year steak, chicken twice a year. I have no self righteous political stance, I know its better for the environment. But all in all it simply makes me feel better about my health.

Do you guys feel overall healthier and have more energy? My diet sucks balls and I'm betting if I quit some shit it could benefit me greatly in the long run.

My health is pretty bad so some of these things were necessary. I didn't have to consult a doctor, I knew that I was poisoning myself and my body couldn't take it anymore.

When I eat right, I feel great. I sleep better and have more energy. My digestive health is better too. Less heartburn and less bouts of upset stomach.

Yeah, it's totally not political for me. Just an evolution in my shopping and diet patterns.

I eat some seafood, and a little bacon now and then.

I still eat some processed foods, I need to cut that right out. I wish I could do the raw food thing, but you need to be shopping every 4 or 5 days, and I am not that organized.

I went vegetarian back in February after a similar path of cutting out smokes and processed food. I did so purely because I was feeling like shit from all the garbage I was consuming; which usually resulted in heartburn and indigestian.

I'm at a point now where I'll have fresh seafood on occasion, but steer clear of anything else which is processed or had eyeballs. It's 100% health-based reasoning for me. I just feel.. better than I did before.

I read a book back in 2002 that effectively convinced me to try vegetarianism - for health reasons, not for moral reasons. I ended up not eating any more meat for two years. then I realized I weighed 120 lbs so I started eating chicken and fish again. I still don't eat red meat or pork.

I used to be vegetarian.

The problem I had was I don't like milk (or any dairy products other than eggs and ice cream) or tofu, or a lot of those other high-protein foods, so I ended up really lacking protein, iron and calcium.

I ended up sleeping for around 14 hours a day, and realized I just had to go back to eating meat, which got me back on track to a normal life.

I realize most people can be vegetarian no problems, just want to let you know to watch your diet so you don't end up in the situation I did.

Man, I'd take a kick-ass vegetarian restaurant over just about anything. Those guys really know how to flavor. Magic!

I've been vego before (2 years) and I still don't eat much meat now. Definitely makes me feel better when I don't Gotta keep those free radicals outta your bowel!

Protein can be an issue though. Especially if you like to lift heavy weights, like I do. You end up eating heaps of dairy, which kind of defeats the purpose in some ways.

I used to be a vegetarian, but went back to eating chicken and turkey and still no red meat. I continue to eat vegetarian meals more often than most people, combining beans and rice and wheat and dairy for full protein. My mother served a lot of salads and vegetables while I was growing up, so I have a taste for them.

...and straight.
Bullshit :bootyshake:

By the way - people are supposed to eat animals, that's why they're made of meat ;) Seriously, we are supposed to eat meat, otherwise, we wouldn't have canine teeth. Plus, there are certain amino acids that your body needs that are only available in meat.

i did one year back in 2006. After fasting for 20 day with master cleansing, i just lost my desire for meat, coffee, cigarette and alcohol. Lost 30 pounds and felt the strongest ever.

I took vitamin pill. sub whey protein with soy protein and ate oysters regularly.

One day my roomate bought home some popeye fried chicken and i ate a piece. After that i spent whole week eating nothing but popeye. Went back to meat and gain 50 pounds since (@230 now). i am feeling sick and tried everyday.

I don't think it's natural to be a vegetarian. Really. I don't think humans were meant NOT to eat meat.

That being said, for health benefits try sticking to organic white meats. (no processing, no drugs). I think the whole Caveman Diet thing had it right. Lots of nuts, fruit and...meat.

lolwut? Is there any research to backup this amino acids thing?

I have been living years without eating any meat and I feel very good. Sure you need to think about where to get enough proteins (if you workout) and all vitamins but I would never go back to eating meat again. I cannot think one good reason to do so... but that's just me.

I guess I'm a queer too :bootyshake:

or monkey...
