here are a few of my favorite
creamed spinach

They do a fantastic dish here in Spain up in Barcelona at the tapas restaurants. It's simply a quickly sauteed spinach dish where a generous portion of spinach is put in a frying pan along with some garlic and raisins, as the spinach is just getting done and the raisins are plumping up they throw in a handful of pine nuts and finish it with some coarse sea salt.

The result is really nice.

I've been vegetarian for around 5 years. Not because I love animals, I hate vegetable and want them all to die.

In all honestly I find it more fun to cook and am much healthier. Never got the whole 'sickly and weak' thing except at first. Most people know very little about nutrition in general, and they want to go veg and eat nothing but like...lettuce and grains.

I am a meatatarian. I don't eat any vegetables unless it's on a burger. I eat mostly chicken but also eat steak, goat and other meat.

on a serious note: I eat very little vegetables but I do eat alot of fruits I think that compensates for it.

A lot of people are saying we're supposed to eat meat, or we're meant to eat meat, as though it's what god wants us to do. I don't know if there's a god or not, but I do know that we're products of evolution, and I don't think that evolution really cares what we do. I mean we didn't evolve to need toothbrushes, but here we are, the only animal on the planet brushing our teeth every day. we do it because it makes us healthier.

personally, I got less healthy when I was a vegetarian, because I sucked at it, but there is a growing body of research that concludes that vegetarian cultures tend to live longer and be healthier.

Been vego for 3 years, same deal as you bro. Drinking, eating and smoking too much so took a cleanse for a few months. Felt good and never went back. Very little dairy, i eat cheese maybe once a month if I make a pizza. Make sure you are eating plenty of beans, lentils, chickpeas and soy products.

Don't believe the protein myth, most people eat way too much protein anyway and its easy tog et enough protein from non meat sources.

As for the argument we are 'meant' to eat meat that doesnt hold water in my opinion. There is heaps of shit we aren't 'meant' to eat/drink but that doesn't stop anyone from doing it.

I never touched a vegetable until I was like 30 years old, just never cared for them. It wasn't like there were bad or anything they are just bland. As I got older and went from physical labor to desk jockey I realized the need for them. I still don't eat much red meat, not opposed to it, just prefer chicken or pork.

Question for the ex-smokers. What did you use to stop, if anything? This is my biggest crutch. That and drinking, which if you have smoked, you know they kinda go together. I will probably never stop drinking as I enjoy a really good beer, but I know I need to stop smoking, even though I really enjoy it.

I stopped a few times, longest break was more than a year, then I caved in at a bachelor party.

I recently quit cold turkey. About 16 months. I work from home, and there are no cigarettes in the house.

You have to want it. No matter what you take, if you still enjoy smoking, and you want to smoke, then you won't stay quit. As cheesy as this sounds, I decided I wanted to live more than I wanted to smoke and I wanted to make that decision before it was made for me.

I've been eating mostly vegetables for 25 years. I eat seafood, mostly from the local fishmonger fresh out of the local waters, although I do buy non-local seafood if the mood strikes.

I buy eggs and cheese from farmers whom I know well here from the NYC green markets.

Nothing wrong with eating beef, lamb, pork, poultry or other. I think local and sustainable sources are best though. My kids like meat so I either get it locally at the green market or at Whole Foods. I do not purchase factory farm products if I can help it.

the really painful part only lasts a few weeks. think of it like boot camp (but shorter actually.) a few weeks of pain followed by a life time of being healthier. once the cravings die down, you just have to treat every opportunity to smoke individually, and each time make the decision that you worked hard to quit and you want stay that way.

Best tapas evar. I can't even imagine how good they must be in Spain.
