VERY Interesting Article About Google

I think the google is the most evil thing imaginable and, if left to their own devices, someday will be instrumental in creating the world George Orwell illustrated in his novel 1984.

They already have more than 50% of the sheeple drinking their kool-aid.

<begin philosophical rant>
IMHO we all spend too much time thinking about google much like microsoft was characterized in the early - mid 90's. While I dont agree with all of Google's ideas, I do not fear they will rule the world. Simply because the nature of innovation (the kind that creates IBMs, microsofts, googles, etc) is disruptive, chaotic, and works best OUTSIDE of environments like google and microsoft. For years microsoft was out hiring the biggest baddest brains around, stocking their research labs full of top guns, yet think about the many trends they have missed.

Each new platform that comes out will have a dominant player (telephone, tv, desktop, web, etc).

The thing to remember is there will ALWAYS be new platforms. And, with each new platform a new generation of innovators will come along and rock the world of everyone else.

The very thing that makes the goliath great (IBM and hardware, Microsoft and the desktop, Google and the CURRENT version of the web) becomes their achillies heel as they cannot break free of pattern of thinking that got them their.

At first I thought that maybe it was an incentive of sorts to motivate more sites into spending money on Adwords, but since they don't openly advertise this I can't see how they could increase their profits with it if no one knows about it.

This reminds me of something I read awhile back about Google ranking sites that use their analytics better than ones that don't. Was that here at WF? Hell, I can't remember.

I also remember reading somewhere that someone claimed they got lower PPC bids if they used their conversion tracking. I can't remember where I read that either. Man, I've burned too many brain cells. :error:

Maybe to get into Google's good graces we have to use all of their options and utilites(ie Adwords, Adsense, Analytics, Site Search, Webmaster Tools etc.). Maybe even direct outlinking to every single fuckin' Google domain there is.

Its only a matter of time before Google fails (as with all companies, to be sure) but they've pissed off too many people in too short a span of time, so for them it'll probably be sooner rather than later. And from where they are right now, it a long way down.

Personally, I'm rooting for Yahoo to superceed Google. Or at very least for them to grow to the point where they're in a position to challenge Google's hegemony. Hopefully with Jerry Yang back in the helm they'll be able to do it. Hopefully. :)

i love how everyone goes off on google in this industry, and then when they are done with their whining they go right back to making money off their adwords campaigns.

google's not going anywhere, and you may not like some of what they do, but ultimately they are a positive force in the universe.

That's because we want to accomplish something called "making money". Just because you're philosophically opposed to a company doesn't mean you can't do business with it. We're not burmese monks. We're affiliate marketers.
