You're an affiliate looking to sell a product and have 2 options:

1. You have a generalist video that outlines the product. It shows video of product use and is professionally done.

2. You have a normal person doing a personal review of the product (pretty amateur setup, but feels genuine).

I think I'd probably be converted more by video #2 if the video was done right. But that's because I generally don't trust companies to tell a fair story about their product. In your experience - what type of video converts the best? Any good data/posts on this subject out there?

Thanks

Why not split test between both videos and see which converts better?

Conversion in this could would be strictly dependent on the demographics. There are certain niches that will require an elaborate and fancy outline of the product, others require honest testimonials (or atleast one that appear honest)

Thanks BlogHue.

FYI - You Must Have Consumer Review and Testimonial Videos | Marketing Technology Blog

This posts talks about a company that integrates videos into their ecommerce platform. AND they tested consumer videos vs product videos. Consumer videos were preferred 3:1 over the sample size.

There are a ton of metrics interlinking the videos in the website you linked.

1. They are all FMCG
2. They are all targeted at housewives.
3. They are all heavily branded via a broader sect of advertising.

They all have the same demographics they are targeting. They tested it, it works.

You on the other hand, will need to test.

I can tell you straight up #2 will convert better if it's well done. Pre-sell with the video review and then have a short and simple CTA right below it with your affiliate link.

Most manufacturer images and videos always stink. We always get our products reshot because of this. #2 will win without even seeing what you're doing.
