Im trying to find a VA for various projects, but its seriously hard.

Ive hired a lot of them, they all suck. They take about an hour to understand the simplest of tasks, Im talking about posting really basic stuff to wordpress, creating basic excel spreadsheets etc.

They mess around for ages trying to understand, posting random crap when you ask them to do basic tasks.

Does anyone have any experience finding decent VAs who can autonomously get stuff done, reliably do what you ask them and not generally be a complete waste of several hours of time trying to explain simple tasks?

Tried odesk, tried Vworker - they all seem to be the same flavour of retard.

I do .. i can be your VA i really need client like you :)

Naturally they're going to be dumb, otherwise they'd be the ones coining it in and hiring them. Just remember to keep them dumb, you don't want to let them start sucking any valuable information out of your business. Never ever give them a black box position.

Many people fail to realise the amount of effort it takes to find the right person and teach. Once this is done you have to pray that they don't get sick, get a job or like.

If you are really serious it's best to send the work to a small outsourcing company. Of course you must tread with caution if your work is sensitive.

i wonder how long it will take for you to realize that it isn't the million of VAs across a range of freelancing sites that sucks, you are having a hard time because you suck at hiring, training, and work spec

my experience with VAs have been terrible, i am currently hiring for a part time, IRL assistant. in the past when i've had VA's I would spend more time communicating with them telling what I wanted them to do, than the time it took me to do it myself.

if you can find someone to do what you want, then you are golden.

key factor is: T R U S T.

will you trust this person with your WHM / dedicated password?
will your trust this person with your cpanel password?

is this a person who also has SEO/IM/AM as a side project and might post hidden links for link juice/power within your sites?

is this a person who when you fire or quit will create a backdoor into some of your domains to get in later?

good luck to you mate!

ps, dont know when i started saying mate, im from new england

Andrew is somewhat right, although he is saying it harshly. VAs mostly are people trying to get over, They typically have been fucked more then a street whore and have adopted the 'I will fuck them before they fuck me attitude' So you are looking for the young and hungry. It is all about sift and sort. Go to onlinejobs.ph Post your deal. you get 30 people interested. after interviewing all of them you hire 10 (making them use flexiserve) you tell them the deal, work for ME work all of your hours, follow these directions - typically I have a simple posting job - 3 will make the cut. 7 you fire and say FU no money because you worked another job/facebooked/surfedporno/etc

you hire all three with very specific directions, tell them all, you fuck with me NO $. work for a week and you have one good VA. I still pay the other two and say good bye to them.

sort of what he said

- try doing video captures of each task (jing, camtasia), the comprehension levels will skyrocket (guaranteed!)
- a lot of them are bad and it's a fact of life, 1 in 10 will be good, I finally found a VA that was really worth it and been working with him for over a year

good luck brah

Anyone gotten a VA from fiverr? Seems like most posting on there like "I will do 2/3/4 hours of work for $5" are down for longer term jobs too.

Most people don't like high risk like us internet marketers do. They prefer somewhat fixed income with little to no investment.

Hiring a VA without solid direction and understanding is going to be a disaster. Do some research, there are several good guides out there. Andrew was probably too humble to link this, but his guide is really, really good:

After $30,000+ Spent with Odesk: The Ultimate Guide to Outsourcing

Read, Obey.

With the right hiring and managements process in place, you can weed out the fail pretty quickly. You aren't going to get the right person the first time, but that's just how it is. Its the price for finding incredibly cheap skilled labor.

^^^ THIS!

When a VA sucks it is usually due to bad instructions and training.

Over-communicate!

Do NOT assume ANYTHING!

Beware of the language barrier!

Create little video's on how YOU want something done. Find one good VA, pay good and give unexpected bonuses for great work. Don't be cheap.

Look at this link from a couple of days ago:

http://www.wickedfire.com/shooting-shit/130301-where-do-you-guys-hire-your-vas.html

Lot's of good advice in there.

LOL at they guy who want constantly fiver-type VA. 4 hours of work for $5 ? Seriously ? One time deal it's probably someone who did that just for fun not cause he need your $5. Even Indian or whatever.

"Create little video's on how YOU want something done. Find one good VA, pay good and give unexpected bonuses for great work. Don't be cheap."
WORDS! People here wants world here for their $500/bucks calling it living like a king in 3rd world...LOL

Listen OP, person who is smart enough to do jobs in all seriousness etc like you want, who is reliable, hard working, avaliable probably doing that shit for himself, no ? Like all that adsense, aff review SEOd sites, etc etc. It take only just one site to get ranked for some not so compete keyword to match what you give them.

You may ask yourself, how it's so, I pay them well by their standarts and so on ? But harsh reality give you only lazy incompetent people. Cause rest are just fine with themselfs.

And be prepared when you find someone he will fire you soon (it will happen) or continue burn money trough $500 monkeys.

Also 1st guy got $700 average to $1200 rate disregarding his "below $500", and $55/month from some peon (bot or so) just to win the bid and then give him $1500 rate lol

That is a good method and by the way you mean FlexiServer. I googled flexiserve and nothing related came up.
