Wait for iPhone 5 or??

been waiting for iphone5 since my contract ran out in march. using still the iphone3G. so close...so close....

I've had 2 iPhones in the last 3 years (3g, then when the vibrate died in that and Apple refused to honor the warranty a 3gs).

I now have a Galaxy 2 and wrestled with exactly the same question. IMO the galaxy 2 and android is way better than the iPhone and iOS. Mainly because you don't have to use fucking iTunes (which I hate) and there is multiple ways of doing things instead of 1 (or none) on the iPhone.

It always used to shit me to tears that to get music onto the phone you had to go through itunes. There's no SD card shot on the iPhone and no user replaceable battery. The charging cable is apple only. The SIM card (on the 4) is a format that nobody else uses - yes, it's a standard but no other manufacturer is using it. No adobe flash which sometimes makes the browsing experience shit.

The galaxy has a much larger screen and is thinner and lighter. The only thing I think the iPhone does better is that it has smoother scrolling when scrolling a page up and down, the galaxy is a little more jerky. The Galaxy is probably a bit more power hungry too, surprisingly since I thought the battery life on the iPhone was shit. At least extra charging cables don't cost $30 because they are "designed by apple".

Interesting to see the iPhone 5 but I think Android owns iOS right now so even if the hardware is a little better (and I think they will probably match and not exceed) I'll stick with the Samsung. Too many people here have iPhones just because it's an iPhone.

Had an iPhone 2 and an iPhone 3gs. Now I've got a Samsung Galaxy S2 and can't see myself going back to iPhone. Ever.

The iPhone 5 would have to be pretty radical for me to switch back but for now, I've already decided that my next handset will be the Samsung Galaxy Note as soon as it's released.

The only thing (for me) that Appale have over Samsung is the App store. In all other departments, I feel that Samsung is ahead of Apple in the handset game at the moment.

The two reasons I stick with the iPhone is size (3.5 inch screen is perfect imo... most Android phones have 4 inch+ screens which is just too large for me) and smoothness. iOS is just so smooth, and that is really what gets me. I'd wait for the 5 announcement at least to see what it is all about and then decide from there.

had iphone 3gs and now have htc inspire 4g, and would never consider going back to apple. android is far more versatile, and the browser far more intuitive and efficient. iphone had a better camera, was more simple to operate, and had a better screen than the htc (samsung have them beat tho) but it was just too small. if the iphone 5 doesn't have a larger screen, i think apple will lose more market share than they should. while some people prefer the smaller 3.5 on the current iphone, i think most envy their large screen android counter parts. i know i did. 4" is the sweet spot for apple. imo, of course.

I think Android is better simply because I believe in supporting open source stuff more than non-open source stuff, but my parents have an iPhone and an Android phone and the iPhone gives them way less trouble. I don't know if my dad just likes breaking phones or what, but his Android phones always get messed up in some way within three months. My mom's had her iPhone for a while and it's been perfect.

I've been using BB for many years, wanna switch to iPhone5 this year! Waiting, waiting, waiting...

I have the iphone 4 and it's pretty much the best phone i've had. If you haven't switched phones for years, you might as well wait for number 5 to be revealed, and as someone else said it can't be long now
