Hello, I am a newbie, and would like to learn how to search engine optimize for traffic in a hands on way. I know this info is scattered around these forums but I would like someone who has done this before to guide me through.

In return I will push the completed domain and website to you. In other words, I will do all the work, you will get the optimized site, including the domain name. Then you can sell the site or keep it for revenue. I just want to learn how its done.

If you already know this information this should be extremely easy money for you, I just want to learn the steps to the process, picking a domain, setting up the blog, then optimizing it. So combining max typing with max questions, shouldn't take more than some typing and answering questions over period of a few days, probably much less. This might save you many hours of work since I'll be doing all the work and you'll get the completed result. I am fairly computer literate, and have set up sites before but mainly need to learn how to optimize them for traffic.

Anyone interested, let me know, I'm excited to learn this hands on, looking for people who have done this before and made some money off of it, and know how to do it right.

Stupid, stupid newb.

Another idea:
Post your URL here, you will get a lot of pointers.
Commit yourself to reporting back, and we will make this a hands-on study thread.

And you will get to keep the site.
How does that sound?

Ok, sounds good to me.

I have a site called hitsofthe90s.com I'm thinking of making it into a blog, think this would be worth anything?

I'm not stuck on this idea, and can still do more domain research if this one is so-so.

Er... so you have not done SHIT on the domain?

You know that SEO has "optimization" in it... it is the Optimization of something already there.

On that note, make a videoblog with all the music videos you can get for that period.
Monetize with amazon and corresponding ringtones.

Or a voting sort of site... like ( damn I'm too 70s and 80s ) Led Zepplin vs Duran Duran ... who's better?

Kind of a foregone conclusion, but gets more user interac....

afk registering domainsses.

+ blog posts such as "where are they now" and stuff like that. You can even have a category called "Now Dead" or something and list everyone as they die off.

If I had anytime of music domain I would involve youtube in the marketing. I would find every freakin video there was from the 90's, swipe it and watermarket, post it back up there. It would be a numbers game I would think because 300K people aren't going to suddenly be looking for the greatest hits of Seal (unless he dies or something) but you could probably pick up some steady traffic that way. You could do voting, comments, and maybe even little factoids of the 90's (kind like I love the 90's from mtv)

Sorry to everyone seeing a parking page, let me clarify, yes the domain is parked now - I just purchased it last night. What I meant was not just search optimization, but starting from scratch, with designing the blog and then optimizing it. I was asking if people thought the site could make any money, but since I am kind of interested in 90's music, I might as well just get started on it whether it is ideal for seo or not.

emp: Yes, I was thinking of it mainly as a videoblog - good idea to monetize w/ amazon and ringtones.

argh01: I've seen some sites which compare 2 artists, I might try that in some of the posts. Also, I think this site will be manual posting and not one of those automated posting ones unless someone can convince me otherwise.

geekcognito: Yeah I will try some where are they now type things, though I am not sure I want to know where some of these guys are now...

turbolap: Yes it will be mainly videos, I was thinking of something similar to I Love The 90's, except only music.

Now that there are some people observing this, I will try not to screw up. Perhaps I am doing something like this too early, as I am still trying to figure out things like installing wordpress and its plugins - this is my first blog.

Also, just to let you know, I live fairly close to an evacuation area of a large fire that has been going on in San Diego, if I don't post for a long time, then I have either evacuated or have been burnt to a crisp.

Thanks for the input everyone.

I live in San Diego I have to evacuate my home due to the fires.

This project is going to be on hold for a while.

I personally would go for a social bookmarking site that links to videos of that era.

I would not think about money or potential revenue, one of the biggest mistakes at this early stage. Provide a cracking service to your visitors should be your number 1 aim.

In regards to SEO, asking before you start is a very good idea, much better than seeking advice after you have made multiple errors.

Good luck with the venture
