A link in an existing relevant Wikipedia article would be ideal, more under the radar, IMO. But if you have some sort of Wikipedia genius going on and are able to do this with a whole new article, and make it stick, whatever is fine.

PM you service and pricing.

I've been doing a little of my own wiki linking lately and have had mixed results. Are you guys wanting new articles added to wiki or are you looking for a link to be added to a current article?

What I've found works best is something like this example.
You have a commerce site that sells aftermarket Dodge parts.
You write an informative article on your site talking about something revolutionary or big that Dodge has done recently. Keep in mind, you need to find information that is not currently under the Dodge wikipedia page. What I do next is add the information to the wiki. Make sure your information is accurate (one of the biggest reasons links/edits get reverted) and add a footnote to cite the URL of the article on your website. Your link will appear in the cited websites for the article now.

You can't (well... I haven't been able to) just go on wiki as a new user, add a link and nothing else and expect it to stick.

If you prefer paying someone to do it, I'll have a look. PM me your url and the wiki page you want a link on (if one already exists) I'll let you know if I think I can do it... I suppose payment would come after we have a successfull placement.

I don't offer this service, but I can offer some advice on getting links from Wikipedia to stick. I've tried placing a total of three links on Wikipedia and two of the three are still active. The two active links are on relatively obscure articles. These articles have very limited discussion and low numbers of updates. The two active links are to pages on my sites that are very relevant to the article on Wikipedia. An example of this would be something like an article on a historical figure with a link to a page on your site where you have a list of quotes by that person.

The one article where my link was removed had a very active discussion page with the article being updated frequently. My site was relevant to the article, but not as much as in the other two cases. The person who removed the link must have no life other than patrolling Wikipedia given how fast my link was removed.

My advice is to look for articles that have limited discussion and few updates, and try placing your link there.

limited discussion and few updates makes a lot of sense for the sustainability of your link.

But-
Do you ever consider these types of pages have lower authority that the pages where more users are discussing?
It just makes sense to me that a popular wiki with much discussion and updates would have quite a larger number of inbound links than the less discussed, less edited articles.

Pursue what is going to have the best results. Keep to your theory about related content, but also keep in mind you want to grow the article to reduce the chances of a revert.

Instead of just linking to quotes by a historical figure... figure out somewhere in the current wiki to put a quote from them..
EG- Thomas Edison was once quoted, "I'll never visit a gay webmaster forum"
Then use the footnotes to link to your site as a cite :)

Guys I didn't really mean to start a thread about tactics. I don't intend to do this myself, even though I could. It's not just about the pita of getting a link up, but keeping it up (twhs).

As this is for my clients, I have cash to spend and would rather outsource it. Now if one of you are confident in your abilities and experience we could discuss starting a new service in this thread. ;)
