I gotta say, having read the books, I was a little... confronted... by the size of Dr Manhattan's schlong when viewed on IMAX.
I mean, we're talking about 3 meters of glowing blue dick!

That said, I thought the movie was as good an adaptation as any comic is EVER going to get out of Hollywood. Of course you can't put everything in. It'd have to have been a miniseries, and then the production budget would be nowhere nearly as good. Ugly Betty costs something like $2m an episode, and it still looks like shit.

They still manage to have all the moral ambiguity of the books, and that's the point.
Ultimate good guy is the biggest psycho in history. The only guy that really cares about justice can't deal with doing what's "right". The only real superhero doesn't even associate himself with humanity anymore, and manages to have group sex with himself (oh, and a chick with a sweet arse).
It's all amazingly fucked up... Just like the books.

...So what you're saying is that it was somewhat appealing.

well, come on, who doesn't admire a blue cock? right? right?...
Actually, i was afraid during the sex scenes...didn't want to see him get erect and spin me right round like a record

Just more new world order conditioning according to Alex Jones today.

Didn't read the novel, didn't know what it was about, except that it was not going to be Christopher Reeves playing Superman.

I really liked it. I thought the directorship was amazing. There was a LOT going on in many of the scenes that I think an average viewer would not pick up on. Rorshach was unbelievably good, I could've just watched him lay waste for two hours and been satisfied. The other actors were 'meh' though the Comedian had some good spots.

I agree that the girl sucked the worst, but she had a great bod, so she has that going for her, which is nice.

As someone who doesn't get out to movies much because I generally feel ripped off afterwards, I thought it was $12 well spent.

I'm wondering how soon it will be before we see a Watchmen inspired dickroll on WF....

It seems like with this movie, you either love it or hate it. I hadn't read the graphic novel before, and I really liked the movie. It was unconventional and not formulaic, incredibly refreshing break from all the generic superhero movies coming out.

Saw the movie on opening night. Personally I thought it was deeply interesting and complex, but my wife does not share my enthusiasm. She couldn't take too much of the prison scene with the saw ripping through a couple of arms, or the hatchet in the skull (striking repeatedly), or the way individual people were blown up into a goey mess by Dr. Manhattan, or . . . you get the idea. For three hours she can sit through Titanic, but I guess not Watchmen. There really was a lot of detail in each scene, and I wouldn't mind seeing it again on my own.

And about the blue man (fitness model Greg Plitt) I saw the following image in a blog review about the movie and thought it was right on point.
