Web-savvy future generations = less money for us?

It seems you are confusing intelligence with desire. Two very different things (with the latter always the overpowering former).
True, true - though I wasn't necessarily implying that people would become more intelligent; merely better-informed and savvy.

you underestimate how lazy most people are
The worse the economy gets, the less lazy people will become (cos they gotta put food on the table and a roof over their heads) = more competition online?

By website do they mean some bored 13 year old that made a blog on tumblr and got bored after 2 minutes because they didn't want to express their opinions?
The survey didn't provide specifics, but judging from the fact that it was from 2003 it may actually have been hand-coded html websites that they uploaded through ftp.

This thread makes zero sense.
I believe you're correct (with regards to my original post) and this would be a good thing, since the hypothetical future I was picturing was a bleak one.

i believe online buyers are growing at a rate 10x faster than the rate successful aff marketers are growing at, so everyone wins here
I guess I forgot about that factor. Let's hope any future economic problems don't stop people from spending money online.

Says everything. The barrier to entry is higher, and continues to escalate. Coupled with increasing regulations to understand (if you're into that sort of thing), strategies to learn, decreasing conversion values, increasing traffic costs....those kids are fucked until they learn to play the game just like everyone else here that makes money.

I actually get what you're saying. Shit's so simple to use that people forget about the stuff that actually happens behind the scenes.

You'd be surprised how retarded these new generation "web-savvy" people are. It doesn't mean they understand the basic workings of a computer, let alone the internet. And as mentioned above, they're more comfortable buying shit online. I think it's going to only get more lucrative.

Make website - marketing website, not the same thing.

Buying an iphone, ipad, PC, mac and a bluray player doesn't make you tech savy.

I think we assume the next generation is tech savy because their mum and dad just bought them an ipod via one of our affiliate links for their 5th birthday.

In my experience young or old the majority of people are next to retarded when you put them down in front of a PC and ask them to do anything but open facebook or use google. It's a big step to turning some coin from there.

To answer your title simply, no. Fat people are going to keep looking for diet pills, gay webmasters are going to look to find other gay webmasters, and broke people are going still going to look to make money online.

I STILL get forward emails to the tune of "forward this to everyone in your email list, because gmail is over bandwidth and we need to cut down on inactive users. If you dont forward this your account will be deleted within 48 hours"

In fact...I got 1 yesterday and a "new age" one on my blackberry via BBM from a 28 year old investment banker.

Times change, technology advances...people still stay the same ol' stupid.
