So I'm going over to spain for a business trip next week and I plan on spending the following weekend in either Barcelona or Madrid. I'm open to other suggestions as well. What are your guys thoughts? Anyone been to both places? Or if anyone lives there, let me know!

Where's the business actually taking place? While both are beautiful and each as lots to do, I think most people would recommend Barcelona over Madrid for a weekend. Unfortunately Barcelona is nearly 1100 km from where I'm at on the coast otherwise I'd meet up with ya.

Business is in Valencia. Flying out on Friday. If shit wasn't going crazy I'd try and make a pitstop on the other side of the coast.

Madrid is tempting because of the fact that they are playing a futbal game @ home that weekend. Either of you guys want to meet up and go to the game?

I am not living in Madrid any longer. Near Miami now, OTHERWISE, I would go in a heartbeat. I am assuming you are talking about Real Madrid and not Atletico de Madrid. If you need some friends to show you around or anything in Madrid, or to even goto the game, let me know!

I've been to both. They are completely different places. Madrid will probably be very cold this time of year. Barca has the sea and some crazy Gaudi architecture. I'm not a big fan of Spanish food.

Not much help was I.

Never been to Madrid, but spent a week in Barcelona this summer and it was amazing. Great food, Picasso, Gaudi, the beach, awesome nightlife atmosphere, friendly people (beware pick pocketers), Paella on the beach at 3am..

I'm sure Madrid offers a great experience as well..

Enjoy!

I have been to both several times and love them both.

Madrid: capital, a lot to do, spanish language everywhere ( if you speak it )
Barcelona: spanish and catalan, you can go to Andorra and even France if you feel like it.

Probably Barcelona, Las Ramblas is cool to wander around, there are amazing looking buildings/architecture there (even if you're not in to that sort of thing) and it seems to attract a much more diverse crowd all looking to have a good time than Madrid.

The languages are surprisingly different between the two though, I could get along in Madrid with my broken Spanish just fine, but Barcelonans don't talk like anybody else (Catalan) so you might find it harder to communicate there.

I did the weekend in Madrid few weeks ago - fucking EPIC.

Check out the club Joy and Kapital - like 5 chicks to 1 dude ;) oh and I didn't make it but I bet the strippys there are GRIMEY dude :p

For Joy do the bottle service behind the DJ, 1 bottle is like 180euros and the bouncer will let you bring 2 chicks with ya - and there aint no shortage of them haha.

do madrid if you can check out a real madrid game... ronaldo may look gay and bang hot russians but he knows what he's doing. also, the athmosphere is incredible

Barcelona for sure, although the game sounds great too. Barca has more of a relaxed atmosphere to it imo. And of course, it has the beach. If you do go to Barca, check out some of Gaudi's architecture like the Sagrada Familia or Park Güell.

I lived for a year in Madrid and only spent a couple of days in Barcelona so I might be biased, but Madrid for sure. To me Barcelona was disappointing, so unless architecture is your thing go to Madrid.

Oh don't forget:

Was insane to see for the first time, worth watching for sure - but gets fairly boring after the first few fights

This Bull was strong enough to knock down a horse (only one that managed it) and was apparently so 'brave' that it got to go back to it's ranch:

Ask the concierge to book it, it's about 40 euro for the seats I took those pics in and sit in the shade, because it all goes down in the shade.

Valencia (Balenthia if you want to sound like you know what's up) is epic, I'd just roll there and then up to Barthelowna.
