Weird Wordpress problem.. help needed

So I'm installing another WP blog on a new site of mine. Nbd, everything seems fine - until I get into the wp-admin interface.

No matter what I try to click on, Wordpress shows some "All Settings" page.

When I click Save Changes on it, it just refreshes and shows up again. I can not go to the Dashboard, Appearance, Plugins, Manage, etc. etc. pages. Nothing. All it wants to show me is the "All Settings". W.T.F. ?!?!?

Apparently, some other dude ran into this same problem but no solution was given. Am I the retard here, missing anything obvious? All I did was a normal, clean install as I have umpteen times before.

there seems to be some file corrupt or missing, not installed properly. Even if u do everything perfect, sometimes it happens. Re install it.

It sounds like a likely permissions issue. The easiest fix is probably a sort of reinstall, as follows:

1.) Move your wp-content folder somewhere else (i.e. outside the webroot of your domain) to save it.
2.) Delete everything else (assuming the domain's got nothing on it but the Wordpress install, you can just rm -rf the whole folder and create a new empty one)
3.) Unzip Wordpress into the webroot, then overwrite the wp-content folder with the one you saved in Step 1.
4.) Log back into the site and see if things work this time.

That's probably easier than figuring out which particular files are broken or have bad permissions on them.

Of course, this is assuming the blog has content you want to save. If it doesn't, just drop the database and reinstall normally.
 
I've never gotten that but I remember a while back I had a weird issue upon a fresh install.

I figured I probably just did something stupid while I wasn't paying attention or something.

I just deleted everything and made a new install. No time wasted.
 
Before you try any of the above radical methods, I'd try these steps:

- check the two domain settings in the options table and make sure they are correct
- delete cookies and try logging in again by directly accessing the wp-login.php file (make sure there are no queries attached)
- delete all plugin files and folders in the plugins folder on the server

If that doesn't work, I'd reinstall (with a fresh database, or at least a fresh wp-options table).

I ended up re-installing shortly after the first reply by John__N, so the rep goes to him.

However - had I waited to read the other replies too, I would have tested out some of the other tips here first. So thanks again for all the suggestions. Maybe they will come in handy again sooner than I think. ;)
