Hey guys;

There are a lot of people (like myself) that are constantly reading and rereading everything affiliate marketing related off of this forum. But, I know that you can only read so much.

Being a total noob to aff marketing I've decided that, since this place has given me a lot, I'm going to give something back. I'm going to dedicate $300 ( a small amount I know ) to a website, hosting, and marketing costs for one complete 30 day cycle for a specific product.

It will be FULL disclosure. As I'm doing this I will be posting every few days with updates on expenses and profits. I will also be following recommendations and other ideas and seeing how they work out.

If anyone's interested, definately post some ideas in here. I'll be getting started by Friday at the latest.

Try coat-tailing on some of the products constantly being advertised on TV. For example: Girls Gone Wild has more ads on Spike TV at night than anything else. That's just an example, there are a ton of other things with lots of airtime that you could piggyback on also.

what sector are you planning to do the study on? financial offers would be interesting. good luck

I haven't picked a sector yet. I'm going to do some research over the next few days. My goal is to take that $300 and make $3,000.

I plan to use PPC, SEO, and Bum Marketing to make it work.

What about becoming an affiliate for Helium.com? You get $8 for every person you get to sign up and submit an article. Since you're a copywriter, it might be a good fit. You'd have to come up with some unique marketing ideas, maybe even give them a free article to submit if you've got some old ones lying around. I think the stumbling block on this one is getting visitors to submit that first article, but on the other hand the perceived risk to the consumer could be lower than if that had to give out their personal information for a typical cpa offer. I think Helium has a minimum traffic requirement, so if you're going to create a new site, you might have to sign up under your existing blog.

If you're not interested in that, I saw an offer for Blockbuster Total Access on Firelead, and it doesn't look like there's a lot of advertiser competition for movie title searches, could be a profitable niche.

Alright;

So I've been thinking about the kind of product that I want to promote. I don't want a product that has been done to death (no loans, mortgages, dating, eBooks, etc.) and I want a product that will maintain a certain amount of credibility.

I have a few possible products in mind and I'm just checking out the competition at the moment. As well, I'm going to design an extremely basic landing page (and probably release the template too).

You should probably build a whole landing site. I assume you will. I will be following this closely

It depends on the offer. If I wind up pushing a $5/lead campaign it will probably just be a landing page- I'd make several and split test them.

But if it is something a bit more involved (ie- $25/sale campaign) I'll probably do a landing site and a landing page and see which converts.

I'm excited about watching this yoink.

Thanks for taking the time to do it and best of luck to you.

What affiliate program provider are you using? I want to get into affiliate marketing, but I don't know who to sign up for.

I am currently signed up for CanadianSponsorships.com as well as Copeac.com and MoreNiche. I am going to see what FireLead has to offer as well.

Chances are good that I'm going to pick two offers from two different networks. I've made $50 in commisssion from Copeac from an article that I wrote a while ago about free stuff, and Danielle really is helpful and always gives me what I request even though my account is pretty stagnant right now.

Copeac will probably be one of the networks.

And hey, thanks for the support guys :) If I wind up flushing $300 away, well, we will find out what NOT to do won't we?

If you need any help figuring out what not to do I'm your man. Just give me $150 out of the budget, I'll start the campaign out for you. Once I've burned up all the money, you come back, look at what I did, and do the opposite.

You'll reach your $3k goal in no time.:anon.sml:
