Hi,
I am opening a listing site and I ran across what looks to be the Holy Grail for a lister. WF Review.

Since you all are experts, I really want some honest opnions.

Is this thing the real deal or what?

Any bugs?

Is it worth the price or are there Free plugins that will do the same thing?

So far, I have found the "ratings" plugins to be weak, at best.

Thanks in advance.

Try it, if it's not 100% what you want, we'll refund you.

Look at the video in my signature.

Thanks. I will. How can I resist that face? Any recommendations on a scraper? I found one on here for $29 (ypscraper.com) and another for $50 (yellowpagesscraper.com)

Any scraper that gets you the data you want will work. Just make sure it saves properly, some of them are pretty buggy and won't always save a properly formed CSV.

Can you time stamp posts? eg. it posts your content once a week etc.
You can not only schedule the posts, you can also pre-date the posts as well.

I usually fill the site up with posts from the date of site creation date to now()+12 months.

Example: Site created in 2005 would have posts spaced from 2005 through 3/29/2010 assuming you had enough data. It's not posted at times that would indicate it's obvious spam either. No 1/1/2005 @ 12:00am shit. It's appropriately spaced as to not look spammy.

People use this strategy successfully all the time. It all depends on the data, the competition, the keywords you want to try to rank for, and the relevance of the data you import.

Check out the video in my signature, we'll have version 2.0 coming out shortly.

Could you recommend one that you have had success with?

Kind of a catch-22. Most scrapers that are out there are used by everyone and the content is replicated dozens of times (yellow pages). The thing to do is custom build a scraper to meet your needs. I built one to scrape a gluten-free grocery site in about 2 hours, did 100% of what I wanted and once the source site changed, it was easy and quick to make the updates to teh script myself.

I'm guessing folks agree with me here that any scraper that's gonna get you 100% of what you want, is going to be custom written.

There is a Yellow Pages scraper link someplace on WF here!

bb_wolfe - Truly appreciate it, going to be adding this to my goodie basket this month it looks like. Diverting some of my content spend towards this.

Looks like an awesome product. However, I have a db that has X,Y map cords, it would be awesome if you could add a gmap feature to the script :)

I'm sure I'll play around with the script and find a way to tweak it to my needs. Looks like an amazing product overall.

Good news everyone! Google Maps are a part of our Version 2 release this week! Keep your eyes peeled!

I'll keep an eye out. I'm excited about this plugin, on one of my last big projects I actually paid a programmer to whip something up like this. Unfortunately it wasn't built on WP, I think this will be an awesome addition.

@nick I just bought it and it's looking damn fine.

I was considering a cheaper alternative, but I like about your one is two things
- You have rep here and wouldn't screw us over
- The updates are regular and seem to be pretty sweet

So yeah it is the holy grail

BB_Wolfe, Ok so just another question about implementation. Lets say I have a site that has a few x,xxx professionals that are to be reviewed. This list I will be updating monthly. How do you easily update the information without clearing out all the legitimate reviews on the site? I see in your video that you can easily remove an update, but what if you just want to "update an update?"

Excellent question, moving the conversation to our support forums at: http://www.reviewpluginforwordpress.com/support/showthread.php?t=68

I have been playing around WF Review now for about 2 weeks and I really like it. It does just what it says. Nick said they have an update coming pretty soon, which I am really looking forward to. They are adding Google maps.

I liked it so much, I even decided to creat an affiliate blog about it. You can see my full review at Site Building 101 - Using Wordpress Plugins & Themes. I get paid if you buy it from me. I'm not saying that so you will buy it from me; just wanting to fully disclose because I like Wicked Fire and I don't want to stain it with self preservation.

I also give a review on the scraper that I used. It's pretty sweet, too, and easy to use!
