What are your top 5 mac apps

Get "THINGS" by cultured code.

It's made by GEHHMANZ.

excellent suggestion! just what i was looking for (i think someone might have suggested it before im not sure, if you did thanks 2 you too.. it just took me till now to actualy get it :D )

two things I would really like...

1. cut and paste folders into finder (without the automator script that's only flaw is if you dont paste it... the file or folder is basically deleted)

2. an "Up one level" button on finder that doesnt involve like 3 keys to push for the hotkey.

those two things I really miss :nopenope:

Keynote (presentations)
Gimp (graphics)
NewsLife (RSS reader)
Aperture (organising photos)
Voila (screen/image/web capture)
Evernote (scrapbooking)
Parallels (Windows Emulation)
VLC
Team Viewer (for remote connection - can do Mac to Windows so saving Parallels) and also file transfer)
Backblaze (backing up your Mac)
iGlasses (better resolution from the isight)
Screenflow (better than Camtasia for Mac)

a 17 inch macbook is heavy, but watching movies on it is terrific.

hope you didn't get it yet...because "Things" is FUGLY in comparison to "The Hitlist" (potionfactory). Super-intuitive interface and hotkeys. Only downside I could see is that the iPhone App isn't out yet (supposed to be out soon).

Besides Exposé, check out "Spaces" - it rocks!

Mac Apps

Keynote -- swiss army knife if ever there was one.
Pages -- I do most of my long-form article writing here
Text Edit -- great for quick and short articles
Mail.app -- it just works
Canon Digital Photo Pro -- great for photos and free if you buy a Canon camera
Pixlemator -- cheap photoshop alternative
iMovie 09 -- Amazing way to quickly edit video -- and it works with HD stuff from DSLRs like the EOS 7D and 5DmkII! (I know, Final Cut is better, but I'm talking about quick and dirty edits for youtube...)

Parallels (Windows Emulation)
...

I much prefer Vmware fusion.

Also correction, VirtualBox, Vmware, Parrallels, is not windows emulation, its virtualization. Emulation is what you do when the hardware of the host doesn't match the guest, but since those three only run on intel systems like the guest OS its virtualization which is much faster.
