What do you have to fall back on?

I think most successful people will agree, that it isnt necessarily the field they are in that makes them successful, rather how they approach situations, mindset, and determination.

If AM fell off the face of the planet, I'm sure id find a heavy interest in something else, and before long, you will be just as competent in your new field.

I'd prob go hard into the finance/investing sectors... thats where the big $ at, and it's more or less an organized form of gambling, which is always fun :)

I'm just trying to control the traffic. You control the traffic, you control everything.

Real Estate and hybrid (online/offline) Traveling business. I have already started these two. Don't put all your eggs in one basket PERIOD!

Just wanted to know if AM went down the hole for any reason, what do you guys have planned as a back up?

My backup is that I am working on an engineering degree from a top 20 school, plus have a job lined up after graduation.

Why does this sound like an affirmation thread?

"I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and doggone it... people like me!"

Politician. Can't think of a job with better margins than that. Why fuck around trying to make money, when people will just line up at your door, trying to give you hundreds of thousands of even millions of dollars.

hmmm....

I've been in web design and development ( PHP and MySQL, learning Ruby now ) for the past 15 years and Internet marketing for the past 12 years. I also am a partner in 2 ecoms and run a small but successful service to clients as well.

IF AM ever died or I couldn't hack it, I'd be in the same business pretty much doing shit online no matter what.

Also:

more and more, a gross majority of programming majors end up outsourcing the actual programming to eastern hands, while they concentrate on clients and closing deals. programming skill has become a commodity. in this time where highly profitable apps are written below <$1k one-off in india, ph and china.... it doesn't quite make sense to take a 9-5 and do the same job on monthly wage. instead, take the job, but pay someone in in/ph/cn and get ready for project #2 the next day. <-- is how many of them end up working.

Is SOOOOO fucking true I LOL'd at it. I'm did that shit for 2 years at my day job back several years ago.

Pretty nice work man. Did you work for these guys?

I did this kind of stuff for a while after college, high end woodworking and finish carpentry.

Worked on some custom period piece reproductions. Learned inlays, hand dovetails, etc. Can't wait to build out my own shop and get back into it.

Probably trade, I did half my economics degree/got bored and got into IM. I've been trading ever since (on the side). I've made decent returns (esp. when compared to other brokers during the GFC).

That said, day trading is boring as fuck. I prefer to hold short to medium term (or long term if I can find a cheap high dividend stock that I think will rise in price. But that's mostly my irrational brain thinking).
