I am launching a product and plan to have an affiliate program. We're now in the process of designing the site and I want to put up a page where affiliates can sign up to be affiliates.

First of all, do any of you guys ever venture outside the affiliate networks and sign up through these pages? We obviously plan to connect with networks as well.

Second, what do you like to see mentioned on these pages? Or, how can we make you want to sign up to be an affiliate with us more than if our page sucked? Is there anything realistic we could say (aside from our generous commissions) that would make you more willing to sell our stuff?

You could post pics of boobs on your sign up page

...

Or just mention/reiterate your payout. What do you mean "Is there anything realistic we could say that would make you more willing to sell our stuff?".. I would hope you are being realistic in your product. But specifically, if it converts, if there is a market for it and the payout is good and on time, I don't think people would have an issue in becoming an affiliate. I don't really "care" about what a product is when I'm researching offers - aside from understanding how to sell it. But reiterate your payout/payment plan at a minimum.

Thanks for the reply. By realistic I meant something that we could actually put up there, viz., not boobs or paid-for brothel trips to the highest earners.

So I should emphasize payouts, commission structure...what else could make us stand out? What about including a downloadable PDF or something that explains how we want our brand to be portrayed? That might be sort of limiting, but something we were considering.

almost none of that matters compared to the actual product you have. if you have a piece of shit product, no one will promote it - that's just how it works

Dumb question, but if affiliates like weekly payouts so much, why aren't more product sellers just obliging? I mean, if you made a sale, the company is also making money, so they should have the cash right? What's the deal?

Our product is very good. Maybe too good. Put a ton of money into creating it so hopefully it pays off. Maybe will post more info about that when everything is set up.

Normally to allow for refunds and chargebacks. To stop people pushing through hundreds of falsely advertised transactions, taking the cash and you getting lumbered with the refunds.

<edit>Plus the admin hassles of paying out weekly.</edit>

it depends on how fast the advertiser is getting paid... a lot of the advertisers don't have big enough pockets to float weeklies if they are on net 30 payouts from where they get paid (for example, education) so they don't like to pay weekly

lol good luck broes. I'd test it before getting too excited
