What instant messenger do you use

oh yes, self-hosted xmpp/otr for offshore/merchant talk.... but that's so niche it's not even worth bringing up heh

Always signed in to AIM, ICQ, MSN, and Yahoo with Pidgin on the computer or BeejiveIM on the BlackBerry.

I have a Skype account too, but don't use it as much.

MSN, its interesting that every single friend I have uses MSN. Nobody here in Australia uses ICQ, AIM, Yahoo etc.

I use AIM for text chat and Skype for voice chat. AIM is definitely the standard for online communication, even though it tends to disconnect/reconnect frequently. Still, one of the best messengers available.

Few people here seem to prefer Yahoo. I like it best because you can leave a message for the other person while they're offline, and they see it when they sign in. AIM doesn't let you do this - unless there's a setting change I don't know about.

It looks like I should be signing into MSN to be totally accessible to clients who want to work with me. Hmmm....

aim, msn, yahoo with trillian and skype beside is enough for me to get distracted every 2 minutes :D

All the major marketers use skype... it allows you to IM thru ALL the others. Although it used to be buggy, skype has gotten a lot more reliable over the past year.

I use Skype. To me it really is the best and most powerful. I love the VOIP capability and excellent video conferencing quality.

I've used both ICQ and Skype for about 5 years and always hear about random problems people have had but for me they have both worked fine.

Lately it seems that I have been using Skype more often as I like the interface and the free long distance calling to other Skype users.
