What Is Your Preferred Online Backup Method?

For things I deem critical, I use rsync palace and custom scripts, keeping backups every minute, hourly, daily, and monthly. (an hour of minute back ups, 24 hourly, 7 daily, and I can't remember how many monthly.) My goal is that I can restore a customer database from pretty much any moment.

For things I don't find critical, feeder sites, etc, mostly dropbox, whenever I make changes.

My hosts also keep backups.

It's been awhile since I evaluated my procedures and providers, but that's because my important things are running on autopilot and I'm sent daily updates.

Spider Oak is the only thing here I've considered... But In the end the NSA can waltz into their offices and force them to put any spying software they want there too.

I found OwnCloud to be my own cloud storage provider. You have to rely on getting solid hosting space, (5 nines uptime anyone?) But once you do, it's pure privacy like nothing else, and has a few other handy apps built in. -But not for beginners! Installation was easy but setting it up for automatic backups was difficult. Hopefully a newer version will iron out that glitch.

NSA can tap all they want outside your home but a solid NAS drive can do everything these cloud guys can do minus the NSA partnership.
