I have to order some subscriptions for a kids fundraiser. I haven't bought any in quite a while...suggestions?

I haven't read magazines in awhile, but if I had to order a few, I'd read these:

- The Atlantic (a broad swath of interesting topics)
- The New Yorker (long-form journalism)
- Cooks Illustrated (because food)

Runner-up 1: The Economist (good global coverage)
Runner-up 2: Time (good mass-appeal conversation starters)

@JTF, I think Brandon's talking about school fundraisers where the kids sell magazines and the school gets a cut.

What magazines are we reading..?

That's a "Gotcha question" !!

Any chance I get to pick up Wallpaper, that's my mag of choice. It's a bit of everything. Kind of like Cool Hunting in magazine format. I get it occasionally around here but usually only pick up mags when I'm flying. Then it's usually also Wired, Esquire, ID, Computer Arts, Robb Report, Nat Geo, CA (Communication Arts), How, Print, T3, DJ Mag, Mixmag, etc. I'll pretty much read anything.

Always been a fan of The Economist myself. Weekly issues with a ton of insightful content about every region of the world, all with literally zero fluff and barely any ads.

Had to stop reading so much when I realized I could name at least 3 of the foreign defense ministers in Central Asia, had more understanding about the concerns of South American central bankers than I had any business having and for some odd reason had an encyclopedic knowledge about the water issues impacting the growth of Khat in Oman. If that type of shit moistens your lady parts, there's nothing better.

Economist - Bloomberg - Forbes - Inc = Good to scan/quick read.

Maxim - PlayBoy - Rob Report = Have become rather meh like most magazines.

HBR = Good to actually read, and not time sensitive like most mags are dated when released. This mag can actually help your biz. Not every issue is awesome, but worth reading.

We get 10+ magazines per-month as I like to keep track of who's advertising where, and what's "trending" in magazine/print world, as well as discovering potential new clients (companies found in the mags), as well as taking out pages with my clients for showcasing on the web, etc...

Dog fancy anyone?
Black Enterprise?

Yeah, I get those too :) You'd be amazed, or, maybe not, the shit they sling in the Black Enterprise mag!!

Who gives a shit. The fact you're asking means you're not going to read any of the magazines you purchase. So just tick off a few boxes, write out a check, and fire it off to your kid so he/she is happy. When the magazines show up, use the pages to start a fire in the back yard when you friends come over for some beers and/or your kids feel like roasting some marshmallows. Everyone wins.
